Smoke & Mirrors (Forged in Fire) Paperback – April 20, 2021

This series is good, very good ... not quite your normal firefighter romance. Love the characters with all their flaws flapping in the wind and the camaraderie between them!

This is the second book in the series. I liked the story very much. Solid characters and backgrounds. Not too heavy on the sex, but just enough. The story works very well without too much explicit sex. Good read.

Isabel and Logan gave me a unique and heartfelt second chance romance. For Isabel, her childhood didn’t provide a nurturing environment but she found a passion for fashion and headed to New York to pursue that dream. What she found is a cutthroat industry where she struggled and fought to find a foothold. Just then she thinks she has got the right opportunity; it all falls apart again. She heads home not knowing what her next move will be. Logan loved Isabel when they were kids and she just left. He is now a firefighter, part owner of a restaurant and the owner of a broke-down hotel. When Isabel walks into the restaurant, he is surprised and happy. Giving her a place to stay while she is in town only makes sense. As Isabel works to earn money, helping whoever needs it in town, she shows all the skills she did learn in New York. One problem though, she has painted a picture of a successful fashion career, a true smoke and mirrors life. The feelings she had for Logan are still there but what happens when the truth comes out about her life? Will Logan be there to be part of her new dreams? I was fully invested in Isabel’s journey that shows dreams don’t have one direction, you have to be open to all the possibilities around you.

OMG I love this story line between Isabelle and Logan and how they got together him a firefighter and she a designer who moved from NYC because she didn’t like the cutthroat which is fashion designer and she wound up starting her own but she had to deal with her ex boyfriend who stole from her and wanted a old rifle from the revolutionary war but in the end she stayed and got together with Logan Thanks for an amazing book and Skye is an amazing author

I really like Jordan's writing and the worlds she creates with characters. While I enjoyed Logan and Isabel's story, it wasn't my favorite book of hers. Overall, it was a nice story, and I do like the supporting characters. If there was a 3rd in the series, I would give it a try.

Good second entry in the series. Logan and Isabel have a shared past and watching them tackle their problems makes for a good read. Looking forward to the next in the series.

I really love this crew. Logan & Isabel are so good together. They both had hard lives growing up but have come out the other side better or have they. or are they just too scared. She may lie because she’s ashamed of not having the perfect career she dreamed of but Isabel is so much more than her nonexistent career... this woman is such a beautiful selfless soul. Logan has been hurt by lies can he over look hers? Such a great read.

Smoke & Mirrors: WOW! Excellent story with amaxing characters. Great surprises and suspense. Lots of hot romance and frienships. I liked that Logan and Isabel reconnected after all these years. It's sad what they have both been through but needed to working things out. Great story!

Another one by this author that I thoroughly enjoyed. I've struggled to stay interested in reading lately, but I know that when this author releases a book, I will be hooked and not want to put it down. And this release didn't disappoint.I am loving this series. I love not just the characters that the books are about but all the characters. I can't wait for the next in the Forged in Fire series.

Isabel comes to see her brother when her world crumbles around her, again! He is a firefighter and best friends with Logan, also a firefighter and an old friend of Isabel. She doesn’t want anyone to know that her life is not as glamorous, successful as she made out. Logan knows everything isn’t right with her and wants to know what’s going on. They were each other’s first, but never really in a relationship. When they see each other again a spark is ignited and they decide to make the most of Isabel’s visit. The more time Isabel spends in town and getting to know the people the more she realises that there is more to life than the big success that she thought she wanted, but there is still that little chance that she could move on and get what she thought she wanted. She has kept her hardships close to her chest and Logan who has trust issues takes this as her lying to him, which is a big no no for him. They both have trust issues and both had difficult childhoods. Isabel is kindhearted, beautiful, talented but insecure. Logan is strong, loyal, hardworking and suspicious. I loved how the whole town was involved in their story and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
