TC Electronic LEVEL PILOT X Desktop Speaker Volume Controller with XLR Connectivity

What a nice, compact stereo xlr speaker volume controller! I carry one with me in my Pelican for live event production to hand to my backstage video guys who need immediate control over the monitor speakers in their area. I wire this in-line with the xlr cables driving their local powered monitors. The design is compact and the knob has a nice, weighted feel to it. The volume control is very linear and seems very well built.

I really like this thing. It's heavy but perfectly sized. It's sleek. It has its own sufficiently long cables. It's sooooo close to perfect for my needs, but I had to perform a little work on it to get it to sit flat. The connections inside caused a bulge in the soft bottom that made it wobble (irritating!). Fortunately rubber bottom peels off and I as able to to bend the connections enough to minimize the wobble. I also taped a zero-indicator mark so that I could tell when it was turned all the way down. Regardless, I'd buy this again.

This the second unit I purchased over the past few years, became scratchy after a few years. recently bought this second unit. The package had been opened and control was noisy. I requested a refund. TC maybe needs a reboot on this unit. I really like the profile. I would welcome a comment from the mfg. I have other TC products, good and bad results. Could this be a quality control issue or poor design.?

Easiest and simplest stereo volume control to put in line. The action is smooth and assertive and the finish is clean. It’s small but has good weight and although the cable and xlr connectors are a little cheap feeling, they are labeled clearly and the thing just works exactly as advertised. I use it professionally all the time. Always ready to go in my gig bag.
