They've been opening my jars for more than three years now with no malfunctions.
I use the two flat grippers all the time - they work great for opening jars. I've had them for more than three years now and none of them show any signs of tearing or wearing out yet. As has been noted by some of the reviewers who gave this a lower rating, the two flat ones are thin. I don't see that as a downside in terms of getting a good grip on a jar lid - on the contrary it seems to let them get a better hold because they easily conform to any jar's contours. I'm not sure why it would help for them to be thicker, since the idea is just to create better friction between a smooth and potentially moist jar and a smooth and potentially moist hand. Any thickness of rubbery, textured material should work for that. The green one is large enough for a standard peanut butter or pickle jar, and the blue one is large enough for any oversized jar I've managed to buy in the past 3 years. I suppose there are probably jars in the world for which it would be too small. Perhaps if I were in the habit of buying those giganti-sized jars of three-bean salad at Costco I wouldn't be able to use these to open them. If I ever do encounter a jar lid of that scale I might try one of those place-mat-sized sheets of spongy shelf liner, or maybe a scrap of that non-slip stuff that's sold to put under rugs. But if the jar were that large I suspect my hand would be too small to reach around the lid, so it may be moot that the blue thingy would be too small. Sure, these are bound to wear out eventually. So far mine don't show any tendency to develop rips or holes. I bought these to replace an older one that did wear out even though it was slightly thicker. After several years its material became less flexible and started to develop holes. I think it's just the nature of rubber materials to eventually degrade due to exposure to air and light. My expectation is I'll need to buy a new set of these in a few more years, but at less than $1 per year that's not an unreasonable investment. The red cone shaped thing is much thicker, and has ribs to enhance its gripping powers, but I don't get much use out of that one. I think it's intended to open twisty bottle caps, but I seem to have enough strength to handle most of those bare-handed, so rarely think to use it.

Very helpful to your hands/helps with arthritis
Glad I bought these. I'm in my late 60's and have arthritis in my hands. These grips make it much easier to open just about any bottle or jar. I use them to open water bottles (drink a lot of water), jars, etc. I purchased another style which helps me with cat food cans as some can be stiff/hard to pull back nowadays. It was a 2 piece set including one to help with opening cans with pull top lids and the other one looks like a elongated "U" which enables you to put it onto 3 different sizes of jar lids and then grip the open ends and twist. I find them all helpful these days. I need to have surgery on my left thumb due to Basal joint arthritis but hope to avoid it or at least put it off so I wear a brace all the time and let these little helpers do most of the work. Definitely recommend to anyone.

They are great - just donโt expect magic
Iโve had this for two years and they are very effective for opening jar and bottle tops. Itโs important to realise that these grippers only make it easier for you to hold on to the jar and its top without them slipping out of your hand - which is all that is usually needed. They do not open jar tops magically. You certainly can use rubber bands that are of the right width and thickness but I for one canโt be bothered to hunt round for rubber bands and fiddle with making sure they stay in place at the rim of the top I want to open. The very thin gripper might well tear but itโs a tradeoff. Sometimes you do need something very thin to fit some very small screw tops. If you have trouble with dexterity or finger and wrist strength, then you need a gadget designed for people with such problems. Iโm 74 and for particularly tight lids, I use something else which is more clunky. These grips are handy for everyday use.

Great but may melt
These work great, but not as durable as the jar openers my mom had when I was a kid. Iโve had to reorder these a few times, once because the green opener literally melted in my kitchen drawer during the summer. Still the best I know of available.

Surprisingly helpful ...
I'm starting to have some real problems with osteoarthritis in my hands, so removing jar lids can be a major challenge. I've tried several different openers -- various engineering marvels that are supposed to latch onto the lid and remove it easily -- but they often don't work as advertised OR getting them set up causes more problems. These "jar grips" are a quick and easy low-tech solution. I usually use two of them -- the red "cone" one for the lid plus the blue square to grab the jar -- and in almost all cases, I can get the lid off without the pain and frustration I normally experience. I typically use them on things like jars of preserves, pickles, olives, salsa, etc. So far, no problems at all, no signs of wear and tear, still performing just fine after about 8 weeks of use, maybe 3-4 times a week. I paid less than five dollars for the set and to me, they're well worth it.

Great Product!
Older, arthritic hands have made opening bottles and jars much more difficult than when I was younger! These jar grips do the trick - they give me the grip I need to open things with very little effort. Great product, highly recommended!

Ehโฆ itโs alright
They definitely donโt work like the one my mom had when I was a kid. Not quite grippy enough to get much of a boost. The one we had was just basic rubber but it had great grip and was a life saver at times. These are ok. Durable for sure. Well made. They just donโt grab like I remembered. Still, they are worth keeping and will come in handy from time to time.

Worth the purchase just to have the RED one...LOVE it!
I get it - they are rubber Jar Grips and you might be thinking it is no big deal....BUT you are wrong...These are awesome! I especially LOVE the red one so much that this is the second set I bought just to have another red one. The others are fairly thin but are still ok. I use the blue and green ones to hold the bottom of the jar and the red one to open the top part. Works great every time. I am in my late 50's and have very weak hands due to a car accident years ago combined with arthritis and a Trigger finger. Yep my hands are bad and I need all the help and tools to help make my life in the kitchen and elsewhere easier. I keep one in my car and one in my bathroom for opening makeup and jars of face cream. I was tired of asking my husband and son for help every time I needed to open a jar. Now with the help of these I can do it myself about 98% of the time. I highly recommend these.

We use these all the time!
This silicone jar grips are excellent! I bought them after seeing a chef from Bon Appetit use similar ones and I can't believe I've never tried them before. They are so easy to use and they really work to help open stubborn jars without hurting your hands or wrists. My boyfriend uses a mocha pot to make his coffee every morning and these grips make it so much easier to open to tightly sealed pot (when it's cool of course!)
