Workman Publishing Everything You Need to Ace English Language Arts in One Big Fat Notebook

Love this. Great for homeschooling and it has the information, the tests, and the answers after each chapter.

Good book my children use this for different age ranges and even a reference for some college stuff. We have collected other subjects in these books because we like them so well.

I am a reading and writing tutor, and this is the best book I have ever found to help kids understand how English works. Colorful pages are designed to mimic the notebook of a bright kid, full of highlights and annotations, which makes the text visually interesting and keeps kids engaged. But mostly it is just the clearest explanation I've seen of concepts that kids often find confusing. I would buy it for an adult who was struggling with grammar

Great book. Attractive enough to make you want to pick it up and read it. The graphics are colorful, the font is clear, and the highlights and titles are in bold print. Chapters are color coded. Check Your Knowledge questions and answer page included. Contents list all the units and it's coverage. What makes this book stand out from all the others is that it includes all the important information broken down in easy to understand text and simple to read maps. It's all you need to know and that's it. There are a total of 5 subjects in this series: they include Math, Science, English Language Arts, World History, American History in the series and we have all of them. This is definitely worth the investment. Parents will find this book and series simple to explain to your child and/or read with them. Nothing complicated. Buy this book and the others in the series. I highly recommend it.

These book series are great. I bought math, history and science versions of these books. All of them do a wonderful job of conveying complex subjects in easy to digest chunks. 5 stars if the quiz portions are irrelevant to you. - 1 star for quiz answers on the page directly behind the questions for each section or chapter I am using them for homeschooling my child. I wanted to use their questions as quizzes, but my kid can easily flip the page over to find the answer. This is unfortunate as it makes it difficult to determine whether or not my child understood the chapter based on the chapter questions. I would of much preferred all of the answers be in the back of the book, possibly even perforated so I can tear them off if I so wish. Aside from this issue, it's an excellent book. If this is not a concern for you, consider it a 5 star. I am still going to use them as a supplement to my child's education, but for our needs and considering the book is geared for high school and middle school students who tend to cut corners, I am knocking off one point. Would love future iterations to put all the answers in the index :)

Good review written in plain English for refreshing my speaking/writing skills.

Loved the book but maybe for 5th graders didnt really need it just retaught information.But allows skills to be memorized like Authours purpose like PIE persusion,information and entertainment

This is compact book has everything for middle school students! From writing a story to a biography, this has it all!

My son loves the format of these books and is enthusiastic about learning using the chapters. He likes the tests at the end of the chapter but his suggestion is that the answers should come separately so that children can't just cheat and turn the page.
