some are long some are short starting from 18" to 48"

on the lowest setting aka the warmest setting, what termperature does this control turn the air conditioner off?

Mine doesn't work (shut off) either. Did we get a bad batch? I thought mine might have been damaged in shipment since it was loose in the box. My control knob seems to be binding against something at the lower 1/2 settings.JimK
