I LOVE LOVE LOVE this PYREX steamer. I paid a lot for shipping from England but it was totally worth it - was even worth the weeks of shipping time! No where else can I find a borosilicate glass steamer like this one made in France. Here's the difference between European / French Pyrex and American Pyrex: Note: Pyrex in America is a totally different company from the European / French PYREX company! The brand in America is lower case: "pyrex®" in America - but the European company uses the upper case "PYREX®" trademark. The French factory uses Borosilicate Glass - which has awesome thermal shock resistance. It is what used to be used in the old days here in the USA too. Borosilicate is not going to "blow up" in your face unexpectedly. The factory where this stuff can be made is very very specialized - the heating processes are astonishing. The US Pyrex is currently made from ordinary soda lime glass - which is cheaper to make - the factory requirements are not as intense - but if soda lime glass is exposed to rapid changes in heat or cold it may eventually shatter. Sadly, the European PYREX isn't allowed to directly sell their products in America -- so we were stuck with soda lime only -- until a few resellers took up the challenge of offering these great products. So don't be shocked by high shipping prices or long shipping times - it's shipping from across the Atlantic, not from a warehouse down the street. Worth the hassle for me.

Love it, but wish there was an obvious pyrex that these worked with. I have bought and returned more than I can count. For now I am using a round, white corning ware that is an ok fit. But definitely not perfect.

Hi, this item is of excellent manufacture! It is durable, it enables you to steam heat a vast variety of foods and produces perfectly steam-heated food every time. The only issue I would have is that is it mildly irritating to clean afterwards especially if you have not cleaned it or put it into soak in hot water with washing up liquid immediately. Which is what you must do! If you don't sometimes some of the food residue can stick to the holes and the rim and is hard to remove. As long as you look after this item and do not drop it on your tile floor it will last you for years!
