Lava The Original 2117 14.5-Inch Silver Base Lamp with Orange Wax in Blue Liquid

Two points:1) In contrast to the 1-star reviews, this product works.Those who said the lava lamp doesn't work / doesn't get hot enough, etc, I just want to point out that, firstly, this product, and the bulb, are the same regardless of who buys it. Secondly, when I first turned it on, it seemed as though nothing was happening after 90 minutes or so, and I started 'freaking out' that omg I got one of the defective lava lamps. What I didn't bother noticing initially is that there's a metal coil inside the wax that needs to sit horizontally and transversely along the bottom, just above the bulb. If your wax is lopsided and you notice the coil (which you'll be able to see if you hold the glass bottle at different angles) is angled any way that is not completely flat with your desk, move the bottle around and reposition it. After I did this it worked just fine. Took about 2.5-3 hours on the first go before it started working.2) The blue-orange contrast isn't as striking as the photos made it out to believe at first. I was doing homework in a brightly lit room at the time. Occasionally the orange wax at the bottom, just above the light, can get really bright, but as soon as it rises, it becomes a dark orange-black. This isn't a big deal, but just pointing it out because the appearance of the working product is OK, but not remotely close to 'oh wow, that's such a cool and gorgeous lamp.' Then I turned the lights low/off and the color contrast was more pronounced. I know this sounds obvious/dumb, but if you want it to look nice, it should be in low light. Otherwise the appearance is average.Overall I consider it a good purchase.

I bought this for my son for Christmas. I contacted the company when the lamp was cloudy out of the box and after running like their instructions said. The company emailed me and gave me more detailed instructions to clear the lamp. It has been months of me doing what they said to do, and the lamp is still cloudy. My son is disappointed, yet continues to try to make it clear. The return window has passed, obviously, since I was supposed to do this for over a month.

I'm glad I took a chance on this - there were a lot of negative reviews. I opted to give it a shot and see how it was - I was so happy to find a lava lamp in my son's favorite colors for Valentine's Day. Product came well packaged and despite sitting out on my front step all day in below freezing temps it didn't break or leak. When I took it in I let it fully warm to room temp before I attempted to plug it in and start warming it up. It does take several hours to get it going initially and then just an hour or so to get it really moving after that. The product does put off heat so you will need to monitor where you put it, not leave it in reach of small children, and make sure you aren't running it past the suggested time frame. Very happy with the purchase and product. Only one complaint - the manufacturing of the glass could be better, you have a small but slightly visible seam on the glass and then a couple areas where there are small clusters of bubbles or flaws within the glass itself. Not high quality but what do you expect for the price right?

We ordered this in November for our daughter for Christmas and gave it to her Christmas Day. It was wonderful and great for her to use in her room and was fun for her to watch. Then, it started clumping and not doing its lava blobs. I messaged support last month and they gave me tips. It worked for a little bit and stopped again. Now it won't do anything. They said it looks as though it was shaken or left on too long and they only have a 90 day warranty. So no replacement and my daughter is bummed and I'm not going to spend $30 on something that won't last.Beware it might stop working out of nowhere and customer service won't do anything to help. Even if it's for a four year old.

Bought this for my boyfriend's birthday almost a year ago and it still works great! He loves it! It has a very groovy glow.

Orange lava blue liquid 20oz.The lava was mostly made of thousands of small bubbles. After running for a few days, the bubbles only increased in number. Directglow responded that this was not a defect and that all new lava lamps have thousands of bubbles in the wax. I have owned and used lava lamps over 20 years. None have had thousands of bubbles in the wax. Diretglow only refunded two-thirds of the price calling the return a buyer's remorse return instead of a return of a defective product. Having looked over the success rate of LavaLite lately, I would reccommend you stay away from Directglow - they won't acknowledge a clearly defective product and keep a third of your purchase price. The only remorse I felt in this purchase is having trusted Directglow to deliver a quality product.After opening an A-Z claim, they finally refunded the whole price - a week later. Nonetheless, they are alleging a fraudulent claim. Don't waste your time or money and just go to Spencers.

Bought it at Xmas 2023 for my son for his room. It just died, didn't even last a year. We replaced the bulb hoping maybe that was the issue but something happened to the "lava" where it turned solid and no longer melts and moves up and down. We did leave it on 24/7 so maybe it's just not designed to stay on all the time and we burned it out having reached it's lifespan. I did buy another one because for $30 if it gets 10 months of us being on 24/7 then I'm ok with that since my son loves it.
