Stunning!
I have been looking for a snack storage for my counter top and came upon this. I wasn’t sure due to the price but thought, why not! I could always return it. Well…this is so well built and just what a country kitchen needed!Folks complaining about smell.. it’s the shellac finish and will dissipate over time. It’s not that bad in my opinion. I have the door open for now but in a few days I believe it will be fine.I’m glad I took a chance with it. So worth the price

Beautiful & Sturdy
I am extremely pleased with this purchase. The bread box is well made, sturdy and holds a LOT. I was amazed that I could fit two full-sized loaves of bread, plus a package of hot dog buns and a package of tortillas all on the top shelf (with is the smallest shelf). The finish I chose is a little more “farmhouse-y” than I should have gone with, but it keeps my counters clear, which is the best and most important part.

It’s great but i have some recommendations
This is a great breadbox. However, I would’ve liked the color to be more white versus an off-white/cream color. Also, when you open up the inside door, there’s no protective panel against the push tin, so it’s like a cheese grater. If you accidentally pull something out and not pay attention, you could really damage your knuckles.

Broken pieces DAMAGED
Ohio Amish are without morales! Lid came broken in three places. It was packed DAMAGED because NO broken pieces in plastic wrapping or box. Not one piece or splinter found in box so was packed broken. Who would do this to another human being… the AMISH! 165.00 down the drain! UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!

METAL FRONT OF THE BREADBOX RUSTED BADLEY
METAL FRONT OF BREADBOX RUSTED VERY BADLEY WITHIN 4-6 MONTHS OF GETTING IT. NOT HAPPY SINCE I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS. ONLY USED TO STORE BREAD.

Solid wood, hand-made craftmanship, good design
I bought this bread box primarily for two reasons. It is hand-crafted solid wood and is a large size with a shelf in the middle which allows efficient storage of items.I am not sure what kind of wood it is--it is not the quality of oak, cherry, etc., but it is solid wood and stained an attractive brown toned color. Because it is rustic, the wood finish is still a little rough--not enough for splinters but do not expect a smoothly sanded finish. Also, because it is rustic, it does not appear to have a polyurethane, etc. coating like other finished wood furniture, etc. You can tell there are real screws etc. and not just glued together wood. The punched tin willow design is very attractive. However, like other punched tin, the reverse side is rough. It's not rough enough to easily tear the skin. and it's not really a problem unless you were to drag a packaged loaf of bread across the back of the door, then it might tear the package. Or if you were wearing a long sleeve shirt and were to drag your arm across the door, it might snag depending on the shirt material. But this is not an issue for me because most of the time when I am using the bread box, I have the door fully extended open and there is no reason to touch the punched tin. Also, the punched tin holes are designed to allow air into the box, so I am not sure there is any way to smooth the reverse of these punched holes out?Overall, I love my bread box. Attractive, sturdy, hand-made craftmanship and functional. It ships directly from Amish Valley Products in a very large box, and the bread box is well protected inside. It shipped quickly by a reliable carrier. I do think the price of the bread box is a little expensive, but there is "free shipping" so I am sure the sturdy packaging and fast shipping with a reliable carrier is built into the price. Plus, it's rare you can find a hand made product from the U.S.
