This western will keep you on the EDGE of your seat !
EDGE - The Loner, this book was monumental in regards to my reading habits as it was the tome that made me fall in love with reading and what a book it is. A classic Western tale of revenge filled with brutal and bloody action, fantastically dry humour and a plot that delights and thrills as it hurtles to a terrific and satisfying finale. This book is an absolute delight and the start of what is probably my favourite Western series I've ever read, Buy it and the rest of the series and enjoy the ride.

Decent read
I read it years ago and thought I would read again. A little bit dated but quite a good read for people who like westerns.

Childhood memories
I read some of these books in my youth and found them exiting and pure escapism. I thought I would try and capture some of those memories on my new Kindle. They say you should never go back and sadly this is the case with this book. The writing was poor and the story line predictable. Maybe its just me or my tastes have changed give me a good John Le Carrie story anyday.

Good old western!
Read the whole edge series when I was young and had just joined the Navy, just discovered them on Kindle and going to have a nostalgic re-read. This is the first book in the set and tells the story that moulds Edges selfish, brutal but heroic character for the whole series in those lawless western days. Edge comes home from the civil war to discover his dream of a peaceful life is not to be. If you like westerns, action, blood and gore, with the occasional bit of tongue-in-cheek humour, you will like Edge.

Great read, great author.
I read the Edge series when they first came out, and they are just as good now, with story lines still interesting.

This series never ages.
I started reading Edge back in the early 80's when it came out in paperback. Life got in the way and I stopped for some reason. I just found the series on Kindle and am starting for the first book. For any of you who like westerns, try the first one and see if it does not grab you and make you want to read more of Edge....

Just thrilling....
I know the EDGE series from way back when it was first published and translated in Germany. Back at that time I was thrilled by the storyline and was annoyed when the German publisher did close this series after only 10 books. There was no possibilty to order the original novels at that time - and amazon still was not more than an unreal imagination, as well as the internet. Now I see the "rebirth" of the series, and I am glad about it. I just read the first novel THE LONER and see that it is just thrilling as many years before. If anyone wants to read a good western with an interesting hero, here is the opportunity!

Without a doubt the greatest western writer of all times and the greatest characters depicted in his books ,,was great thirty years ago and still as good today

Raw!
I had read an Edge book years ago, but didn't remember it. Figured I'd start with the first. What a great read! Unapologetically raw, bloody, and fast paced. Edge was even more raw than I was comfortable with, but I couldn't put the book down. On to book two!

Everything it promised
Yep as pointlessly violent as the reviews suggested, gruesome, blood thirsty, nasty with an anti hero with few if any likable characteristics and even fewer qualities BUT an entertaining read from start to finish, well worth the price. I’ll have to source the tv show because if it’s as entertaining as this first book, then it will be well worth the effort and the price.
