The Extra C??mb??? is approximately 34 inches long. It has NO FRETS. The body is solid wood stave construction. The wood body and neck are inlayed. It has 6 courses of 2 strings each. The C??mb??? is a relatively young instrument. It was developed in Istanbul in the early 1900's. The inventor, Zeynel became known as Zeynel Abidin Bey. The famous Ataturk Mustafa Kemal, Turkey's first president, dubbed it C??mb???, pronounced joom-bush. C??mb??? is Turkish for revelry, just the mood this instrument inspires. Our C??mb??? are imported from the Family shop of Zeynel Abidin on Ataturk Bulvar in Istanbul. The Standard C??mb??? is tuned like the Turkish Oud and one step higher than the Arabic Oud. Almost any Oud tuning can be used.Please Note: The patterns of the staves and the colors of the wood veneer may vary from picture and head color may vary from clear, white and black. ?
