"When you're dumb enough for long enough, you're gonna meet someone too smart to love you, and they're gonna love you anyway, and it's gonna go so poorly," Neil Hilborn writes in his debut full-length collection, OUR NUMBERED DAYS. In 2013, Hilborn's poem "OCD" went viral, and has amassed over 11 million views to date. While this collection ruminates on love, heartbreak, and mental illness, these poems are anything but saccharine. Hilborn uses the same humor and self-deprecation that propelled "OCD" to success in order to make his unmatched vulnerability all the more powerful. Ultimately, Hilborn is a poet of the people: his work is accessible, honest, and entertainingโa revitalizing entry in contemporary poetry. Review: Excellent poetry! - So, like many, I discovered Neil through his viral video. I stuck around, watched and read more of his work, and decided it would be worth supporting him. So far, I love this book. It has quite a few of his 'internet' famous poems like "OCD" and "Joey", but there are more than a few surprises to be found inside. Fair warning, however, if you don't really know much about Neil or his poetry, these aren't about sunshine and puppies. A lot of the poems are dark and are biographical, which means the desire to commit suicide is brought up many times. While I like the poems, I wouldn't classify almost any of these as the kind from which you walk away feeling good with a smile. Don't think for a moment these poems will make you feel good. They will make you think, may take you to some dark places, and you may even find you like them. Review: Beautiful, honest, poignant - I got interested in poetry when I saw a video of Neil performing his poem "OCD". Since then, he has been one of my favorite poets. This book is absolutely incredible. It is raw emotion that has been simmered into words and then spilled onto a page. To me it is an honest reflection of brokenness attempting to move toward being wholly repaired. When you get it, read it twice. Tear through it in one sitting and then go back and read each piece on its own, let it sit with you; feel it deeply. I have already recommended this book to my friends and family and have reread it several times in the short week I have had it.

Pleasantly surprised.
I am not a big fan of modern poetry, but I have to give my compliments to Mr Hilborn. Very fine compilation of poems in deed. Again, being someone that doesn't usually read modern poetry and free verse, I couldn't stop reading. A lot of these poems were heartfelt and unpretentious (unlike a lot of poetry these days). Again, my compliments to Neil. A few poems, most notably "OCD", touched me deeply. Very solid work.

Brilliant and Clever, Funny and Heartbreaking
I have read this book cover to cover at least three times. Neil Hilborn has such a brilliant and clever way with words, that I find myself laughing one minute and close to tears the next. His subjects are so relatable, and it makes me feel like I am seeing the world through his eyes. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from him.

Worth the time
Neil has way with words. They hit you full force, if they are remotely relevant to your life experience. He is also really good at creating vivid imagery with words. I recommend this to anyone who is an abstract thinker and has ever felt... well, anything.

Fantastic poet
I love this. I suffered through depression for years, now a close family member is in the thick of it and I bought a copy for each of us. It was a great way to connect while not being too invasive. Neil is truly a wonderful poet, and hits things with such brave honesty. I wish I was better with words to accurately describe how I feel about Our Numbered Days, but I'll just leave it with five stars and forever thanks for helping me connect with someone I love who is suffering.

Organized chaos
It's crazy how something so scatter-brained can make so much sense. I came here after I saw a video of Neil on Facebook and I immediately bought a copy. I just got it in the mail yesterday and I can't put it down. It's a book I know I'll read over and over. I'm saving up to buy my friends all a copy because I don't want to give mine up. Great book and an astonishing look at how the mind can be so chaotic and yet so beautiful.

Still the best
I had this book already few years ago. I gifted it but I new I had to buy it one for myself because it's still my favourite button poetry book of all times. I saw Neil live in 2018 in London and it was amazing to see performed some of my best-loved poem from this book. Buy it.

Absolutely beautiful!
A beautiful, honest, meaningful look into the mind of Neil Hilborn. It gives insight into the life of someone with OCD, depression and the events in his life.

Absolutely amazing
I have never liked poetry. I just can't understand it most of the time. It's too abstract for me and I don't feel identified. This guy did the trick for me though. The way he talks about depression and just the way he conveys feelings in general. If you have seen him on YouTube you know how good he is. If not then, look him up!

Surprisingly touching
I am not usually a person that is easily affected by poetry, but this book has left me in awe and tears whilst reading it. I therefore strongly recommend it to anyone in the mood to be touched by the words of this extraordinary artist. Thumbs up.

Neil is an amazing poet. He gives people a different way of ...
Wow. I wanted to be incorrect with my rate and put at least 12/10 because this book is just breath taking. Neil is an amazing poet. He gives people a different way of looking at life. He takes things that people may not see as beauty such as depression and sadness and heartbreak and he turns them into amazing works of art. I tear up just reading his poems because heโs such an amazing, genuine poet. I will recommend this to anyone, whether they suffer mental illness, or even if they donโt like poetry. Iโm not a big poetry reader, usually. But this book is my go-to read on my down days. He is an encouragement to any one who wants to write poetry, including myself. I really, sincerely hope he knows how amazing he is and how touching his book is.
