It is just as described. It is a bit heavier than I thought it would be, and a bit handle heavy for the blade shape, but it slices very nicely, and the fit and finish is pretty good for a tool at this price point. I may actually grow fond of the balance in time. The steel feels like other 440a knives I have owned - a bit tough to sharpen but seems to hold an edge OK. I have no idea if it is really 440A or one of the Chinese CR steels, but it doesn't really matter so long as it doesn't rust and holds an edge. The big plus is that it folds. Perfect for the camping use I have in mind, rolling around in a drawer.

I'm a snob when it comes to food prep knives. All of the knives for going camping are cheap. This is a beautiful knife, nice wooden handle, good weight to it, and feels very durable. It is a folder so I can even keep it in my pocket and it is durable enough to take to the woods. I would recommend this.

Still have this knife after like 5+ years keeps its edge and could cut through stuff very easily especially pork shoulder

First of all, this knife is quite a bit larger than I was expecting when folded. That's not a bad thing. I just was a bit surprised when I saw it and realized that. That said, larger means a bigger handle to hold and a longer blade with which to cut. So no points off. Just something to note. Also to note, I got this for travel. If you prefer to stay in lodging where you do your own cooking (as I do), you know decent cutlery is non-existent and I have always packed a small travel set to solve this problem. I recently was considering thinning down my carry set, thus my interest in this. The good: - I sharpen my knives. I have pity for those who cannot, so I don't take a lot of stock in "it came dull" or "it came sharp." My questions are always, "Can I get it sharp and will it hold an edge?" This one came very sharp. So if that matters, you'll be happy. It also holds an edge decently. It's softer 440 steel (the A variety), but it's a tough steel that has been time tested. The only real disadvantage of it is that you have to sharpen it, but when you do, it will take an edge. This knife's steel, sharpness and blade retention satisfy me quite a bit at this price point. I am, in fact, impressed. - The knife is very appealing visually. The olive wood is gorgeous and it has a very classic look. Please don't put it in the dishwasher! The steel will be fine, but you'll ruin the wood. But the fact is that while I am lazy and put SOME stainless knives in my dishwasher, I hand wash my better ones. This one will be hand washed. - It has heft. It's not a little lightweight thing that has no meat on its bones. The blade and handle are substantial. More on that later. - Deployment and lockup are awesome. It is very, very smooth to open and the liner lock holds the blade in place. - Comes with a nice bag to protect it and a polishing cloth... I have no use for the cloth, but it would clean my glasses nicely. The bad: - On my first deployment of the blade, the liner lock slipped past the blade and wedged to the other edge of the handle. It's hard to explain, but generally the clip lock rests on the bottom of the blade below the swivel. This one shot past there and locked up on the other side of the blade where the bottom of the blade and the edge of the handle had it trapped. It held it firmly in place and the blade was locked up, but I couldn't deploy the liner lock to UNLOCK the blade. I had to use a pair of pliers to squeeze the lock down. I should have protected the handle when I did that, but I didn't put anything soft in there and ever-so-slightly marred the wood. It's only noticeable if you know to look for it. That said, the trick with pliers worked and the blade lock up has been flawless since. - The handle does not have great ergonomics. Let's accept this for what it is, and acknowledge this is a travel kitchen knife, not a daily driver. For an AirB&B, vacation rental, cabin or camping, it's awesome. I find the handle is slightly "edgy" with the edges of the wood slabs not being particularly smoothed out and while the heft is great, the balance is so-so. Also note that the handle is not particularly "rounded." The slabs sit pretty flat against the frame. So I was not entirely positive, but let me recap a bit: Razor sharp. Portable. Hefty. Beautiful. Cheap. This one's definitely a keeper. I am glad I purchased it and despite the opening mishap, I plan to get another in a different shape to keep in my "cabin travel" box with the assortment of goodies I always take (a thin cutting board, a kitchen scrubber, a few kitchen rags, a thin cast iron skillet/Dutch Oven combo just to name a few). I also plan on leaving my beefier knife roll (with kitchen knives in protective sheaths) at home on all but the longest trips now. I believe a pair of this style of knives (a nikiri and a santoku) will serve most travelers well for basic kitchen functions.

Be careful, this thing is razor sharp, it glides through vegetables and meat. l

Great and wonderful product! Very sharp! True to its advertisement; fine and precision craftsmanship. You can tell someone made this knife with love and care. Will buy more, already got the carbon fiber model coming.

I first tested it cutting fruit and peeling an apple. Though the knife has a good weight, theoretically to make it easy to cut by not having to apply too much force, it still did not do a good job. It did not feel like it was easy to peel and slice a small apple with this tool. Second was a carrot. This one was much harder. It did not cut easily and I felt like I’ll be having an accident by applying more pressure. I will still keep it. I think it’s a good size for everyday cooking. Although it does not have a knife guard, it being foldable makes it portable and safer.

I didn't like the handle, it is bulky and has squared edges.

I can’t believe it ,everything I have purchased;this one worth a real 5 stars .definitely not for children,it razor sharp…it just woww!!! Really wort for the money.
