PalmOne 3175WW Hard Case for Palm Tungsten T5

I'm just filling this review because I forgot to do it whe I Buy this item loooooong time a go. I love my Palm and all the gadgets with it. So sad that the company went belly up

I thought, for the price, this would be a metal case. It's plastic but so far it's working ok. I am hoping that the clip that holds the Palm in the case lasts. It is made of plastic too. I like the SD card holders. It took me a week or so to realize that the case can be locked shut. I kept a rubber band around it until I sat on it one day and heard a click. Turns out you have to apply pressure on the case to lock it shut. This isn't real obvious and there is no documentation showing this. Anyway, it works and I'm fairly happy with it. Shipping was prompt and I was kept up to date on things.

Does the job. Keeping my Palm going for just a little longer with this 3rd version of same case. True, the latch fails soon after getting new case in the first 2, but still works to protect my device. Does make some rattling noise, which I never really noticed until I read about it in another review. attachment to hinge eventually fails, but nothing lasts forever.

My Palm TX did not fit well inside this case, it rattled around. A LOT! There is no cushion supplied inside the aluminum case. I ended up taping a pice of bubble mailer to the inside of the case to keep my device cushioned and still. This helped a lot. I had the case for a few weeks when I dropped it (while open no less!!). I must admit the Palm T|X survived the fall, I attribute this to the bubble mailer inside the back of the case! However the case itself bit the dust. The cheap plastic strip that slides ito the groove on the Palm device to hold the Palm inside the case, well it broke clean off upon being dropped. Also there are NO speaker holes, if you want to hear alarms you better have the case open. No access for charging while case is closed, no access to SD slot without lifting Palm device from case. All in all a poor case for your T|X or any of the T series Palms.

It took me quite sometime to make a decision in upgrading to the T5 from my reliable Palm Vx. I considered the investment in the hardcase a smart move, given the healthy investment I made in purchasing the T5. The rebate on the case is the only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. When inserting the T5 into the case it appears to be a mismatch. It is not a snug fit at all (it rattles in the case). You have to completely remove the handheld from the case to connect to your power and hotsync cable. You can't retrieve the stylus nor retract or insert a SD card without lifting the handheld from the case. I consider the case nothing more than a mobile carrier for the handheld. Simple design considerations could and would have made the case much more compatible with the hardware it is meant to house. I intend to purchase a Wi-Fi card in the near future. I already realize now that the handheld cannot be in the case if you have the Wi-Fi card inserted. Like I said, the rebate is the only positive when purchasing this (Palm must know that too, hence the rebate).

This palm case is definitely worth the money. The hard shell protects your palm from getting scratched and/or dented, especially while being carried around at the bottom of your bag. The case allows easy access to your palm and stylus, and also snaps tightly shut, so your palm is safe when you're on the go! If you buy a palm, you should invest in this case!

Hard Case does provide adequate protection from damage to the T5 unit. Problem is that you cannot turn the unit on, insert cards, or remove the stylus without either removing the hand held, or swiveling it upwards. The same goes for trying to plug in the charging/hot sync cable. Also, the storage area set aside for the SD cards only accomodates the standard card sizes. The Palm WI-FI card will not fit into the case slots. This is a major issue if you don't want to lose or mis-place that card.

Though 9cm x 12.8cm x 2.2cm it can fit in your pocket and is quite light. It is designed for the Palm T5 and TX. I have the TX. The palm slots onto the case in the same way as the supplied case works so it is hinged so that you can get to the back of it and reduce the risk dropping it.

This case is okay - it protects your pda well and keeps it scratch free. But its also very bulky, the stylus is alkward to get in and out with the case on, the catch for the case has broken on mine (now secured with an elastic band) and it looks scruffy. My PDA (Palm TX) however is like new, so its done the job!

Ich kann den bisherigen Kritiken nur beipflichten. Bei meinem Case verabschiedete sich auch noch der Verschluss. Ein viel zu kleines Plastikteil.
