## Description

Still Spirits Turbo Classic 8 is a complete distilling yeast and nutrient fermentation blend, formulated to perform consistently across a range of home fermentation conditions. Each 180g sachet contains a specially formulated yeast nutrient blend, vitamins, trace minerals, and integrated mineral absorbents no separate additions required. Choose between two recipe options depending on your batch requirements. Use 6 kg (13.2 lb) of turbo sugar in 6.6 gal (25L) of water for a faster fermentation schedule ready in as little as 2 days at 86°F (30°C) or 3 days at 64°F (18°C). For extended fermentation and higher ABV wash, use 8 kg (17.6 lb) of turbo sugar in the same 25L volume fully fermented in 5 days at 77°F (25°C) or 10 days at 61°F (16°C). The dual recipe format gives home brewers flexibility without adding complexity to the preparation process.Integrated mineral absorbents work within the blend to support a cleaner fermentation environment and more stable batch performance across varying conditions. Each of the 5 sachets of Turbo Yeast powder is individually sealed to maintain freshness between uses. For best results, use alongside Still Spirits Turbo Sugar and Turbo Carbon, followed by Still Spirits Turbo Clear after fermentation is complete.

Review: Don't walk away from quality - I've been brewing for many years now, and in the process there is one thing you had better pay close attention to and that is the quality of the yeast that you use. If you're out cooking up a batch I certainly hope you didn't use bread yeast....lol (Don't laugh, some people still do, although I cannot understand the reason why they would want their beer tasting like Wonder bread) I've have purchased Still Spirit products for sometime now and essentially it boils down to this without a whole lot of hyperbole, Still Spirits yeast is without a doubt the best. Now understand this is not your average yeast, I'm speaking here of the turbo yeast Classic 8. it's been cultured to produce massive amounts of ethanol in a very short period, I followed the instructions according to what they determine are the proper water temperatures, volume of yeast, amount of sugar, and to top it all off each bag of yeast is filled with nutrients specifically for yeast growth, as I have stated the performance is extremely steady, my batches very rarely stray from an ABV of +/-1% and, to top it all off the yeast has variability in the brewing process, it performs under a number of different circumstances, of course temperature is always very critical, this it seems to shrug off the insult of a colder vat slowing its fermentation, this yeast doesn't do this, the only things I have noted that kill it before it can complete its job is PH, (Remember alcohol is neutral pH, dead smack in the middle of the PH range, the yeast can get a little cranky when you start tipping one way or the other with the acidity of the Brew. Now here's the wild news. This yeast impressed me so much that I purchased a 10 gallon fermentation vessel, simply because the packets of yeast are designed for a 5 gallon batch, you can always make it smaller, just be proportional, but the purpose of why I went to 10 gallons is simply this. This yeast has great variability on what you can do with it, or you can simply follow the rules and get very good predictable results. ABV guaranteed on the packet can be surpassed by twice that amount, I routinely Brew 40 proof alcohol, and it is important for you to remember, this is just a base yeast, it's purpose is to produce ethanol, nothing else. Unless you set up your brewing process the only thing you're going to be producing is vodka, or more accurately a neutral grain spirit, homemade biofuel basically, and one that can knock you on your can so please drink responsibly, I use distilled water, I use the clearing agent also made by Still Spirits, the A and b attached packs of kiesesol and Chitosan, (and if you ask me how to pronounce chitosan, you most likely won't get it right but here's a hint, it's not cheetosan) actually there are 12 different pronunciations, the most common or proper is kai-TOE-san, with emphasis on the toe. Just thought I'd save you the headache.....lol To increase the levels of alcohol no matter what you're brewing there's a few basic rules of thumb, if you want a higher ABV, plan on doing the following, higher starting temperatures, and higher ambient temperature, I would suggest no more than 7° above Fahrenheit on what is quoted as the starting temperature, if it says start at 80° start at 87, have the room 7° warmer if possible, once you've done this the next day reduce the temperature of the room to what is listed on the back as a good brewing ambient temperature, nominally around 70 to 74°Fahrenheit, and don't forget the clearing agents made by Still Spirits, if you use them correctly and apply it to the Brew correctly after fermentation is done, within a day your Brew is going to be as clear as a mountain lake, thanks to chitosin, you want to know how it works to clean all those particles out ? It's only one of three atoms on the planet that have a positively charged electron, the chitosan has now become a magnet for every other electron, since one atom has a positive electron and the other has a negative they join like magnets until they become too heavy to stay in suspension in the Brew. Roughly the same thing goes for kiesesol it's the first part of the process when using a clearing agent, the kiesesol is used first, and is used for the larger heavier particles, the Chitosan is the fine clearing agent. If you've never learned how to properly drain a vat I suggest you learn how and either make up or purchase a few of the tools that make it much easier, because you're going to have to go through the process of refining and clearing the alcohol several times, the sediments fall out, it takes a long time and it has to be still, you wind up with a very very fine silty like substance on the bottom of the vat, you have to drain the vat carefully so you do not disturb the sediments, this requires suctioning it from above, essentially take a clothespin and four or five feet of fish tank airline tubing, set the drawing end of the tube in the vat about an inch and a half above the sediment, if you wish to get it a little lower or closer you risk sucking up sediments, there is always loss when brewing, it's part of the process. All In All I'm going to recommend any product that they make, except one, and I've only used it once, it's has a lot in parallel with toner powder, it gets everywhere, but most importantly it turns your brew as black as night, it's supposed to be if I remember correctly a nutrient and clearing agent in one, all I got for my trouble was 5 gallons of black ink, but, I'm sure I read the instructions but I could always have made a mistake, you get the first one for free.....
Review: Shine on - Great stuff I do 50 gallon batches and stack this it works really good at different temperatures and is always good tasting and crystal clear after distilling

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does the carbon and turbo clear do?**
A: The Turbo Carbon is used during fermentation. It absorbs unwanted compounds and it bonds to the old yeast as it becomes dormant which stops the young yeast from eating it. The Turbo Clear is used to clear the wash after fermentation is complete. This ensures that you do not get yeast into the still. Both are used by almost every professional and by most amateurs. Most people who do not use it are simply uneducated about it.

**Q: I am making a fruit mash and was wondering how to apply this product here? Just the yeast and sugar straight into the mash?**
A: Yes, easy as can be. I use 5 1/2 gallons of warm water, 18lbs of table sugar and a pack of the carbon. It takes about 10 days to completely finish bubbling. Add the clearing agent and wait another couple of days. I get 5 quarts of 190 proof after distillation. I've done this many times and the results of solidly consistent.

**Q: Should I place excess packages in the freezer or refrigerator? I know the package says cool dry place. Will freezing hurt product?**
A: My personal experience is I just put it in box where I put all my "stuff"..lol I've never had it long enough to put it in the fridge or freezer after use. I only use maybe a couple of tablespoons out of the pack for a 5 gallon pot. I think people are getting the off taste because they use the whole pack, you really don't need that much yeast for 5 gallons.

**Q: can i use this with a rice mash**
A: It’s good yeast, you can use it to ferment any sugar. However, in a rice mash you will probably need to add some amylase to convert the starches, and you might not get the “turbo” rate, but it will work.
