**Q: Dumb question maybe, but I thought a carbon steel (not stainless) for striking sparks. What gives?**
A: Carbon steel will create a spark when struck with a rock that is very hard. Common examples are quarts and flint. This product does not require a specific type of material to create the sparks. Anything that is hard and sharp enough to scrape away the fireant (aka ferro rod) will create the sparks.

**Q: Fire fly vs. Fire ant, which is better?**
A: I've found the fire ant to be too small to easily start a fire. I'd recommend the fire fly as the the better choice of the two. But the reality is that neither one is ideal. If you are in a situation where there are no other options then the fire fly can serve the purpose.
