Review: Not the magic bullet; but a great alternative to the usual big box PAs on stands: not as loud, but much better looking. - Awesome, but not perfect. The good: light, compact, everything is in the box (you can even keep the XLR cables inside!), no more freaking stand to carry around, no more heavy PRX or K12 to lift up to the pole, no more XLR/Power cables to run around the stand and try to make it look nice with Velcro (+ you are saving 6' of cable right of the bat!), basic (but functional) mixer included, sounds GREAT, makes you look like the uber cool DJ at the weddings and proms with the kids. MUCH cheaper than the Bose for 80% of the same. The not so good: not as powerful as the PRX715 (~115db vs. ~135db), you'll still need a 18" sub for a large crowd (only 10" instead of 15" in the PRX715). VERY stiff spacers. I nearly end up at ER the first time I tried to pull them out (be careful!). I fixed that by adding a bit of lubricant on all the edges and now all the spacers fit super smoothly in and out. In conclusion, not the magic bullet; but a great alternative to the usual big box PAs on stands; just not as loud but much better looking. So you still need to keep both systems in your garage, and bring the right tool to the right job! I added some pictures, you can just about see the two posts in the photos. They look so cool. And no problem handling a crowd of 150 kids at a prom. If you can't get good sound out of these, you're doing something wrong. Ask any questions in the comments! Update June 25. Match made in heaven with the bose F1 sub. Dial down the bass on the eon one so you can cranck them louder. A killer combo for weddings 75-150 guests. Rumbling basses and crystal clear highs. Plus it looks amazing, smart, slick and so premium. Trust me you'll have guests asking you about it. More pictures below. Notice the F1 sub. I'm so happy about this combo. Light, slick, crystal clear, at a fraction of the price of the Bose L series. Don't believe the poor reviews here and elsewhere. JBL engineers know what they are doing, and if you can't get amazing quality sound out of them, you're doing something wrong. Contact me and I'll give you a tutorial. Update July 18. Just did a wedding at the local country club. In the middle of the night, the CC manager came to ask me to turn the music down because some club members across the whole building were complaining that the music and especially the bass was too loud. Best compliment ever. UPDATE MAY 05/2018! One year later, where are we at? Are you still on the fence? Get a pair already. I still use mine on a weekly basis, outside, inside, weddings, social gathering, graduation parties, you name it. They have been cranking out music at full volume, without fail, for the last year or so. Are you curious about others leaving bad/poor reviews? I guarantee that 100% of these reviews are either trolls, or people who bought this thinking it was something that it is not, or don't know how to use it properly, or think we live in a magic world where a 375watt speaker should sound like a 2000watt 15" PRX. It does not. Understand what you are buying before leaving a bad review. What i have learned: -The good that i love: they still sound amazing. They are still compact and light. They don't need an ugly post. Guests still come and compliment me on the quality of the sound at every event. The guests are still looking around trying to find "where that amazing sound is coming from" and can't believe they come out of these little guys. They basically look like you are a DJ above the cheap chinese Beringher (whatever you spell that) cheesy DJ, and i love that. If look is important to your business, they will add something premium to your offering. -The not so good that shows that physics of acoustic have limits: they are perfect for outside casual music/PA (think wedding ceremony, bbq, grad parties,...) but you will need a sub to make them shine. Don't try and DJ a large crowd with RnB/POP with these, it will not work. Pair them with a BOSE F1 for example, and they will sound majestic. Basically, don't expect the impossible out of a 375watt speaker... Here is how i have them set-up (see photo below): "Mixer/controller" TO "dbx-GoRACK" TO "BOSE-F1 sub" TO "EON-left and EON-right" (all using balanced XLR; in that order). If you are not getting good sound out of these speakers, you are doing something wrong or stupid (like connecting a mic on a Line level input, or using bluetooth, or using cheap RCA's connectors. -The stuff that i really hate and that's completely unnecessary: the silly "feet" at the front of the speaker is stupid, has no purpose, and makes the speaker awkward to fit in your car. Why oh why. Can i chop it off? please JBL can you make those removable in the coming MKII? Zero use, 100% inconvenience, total waste of space. At least if these feet made the speakers "stack-able" i could see a point, but no, they literally have zero purpose other than knocking things off in your car as you try and fit them around other things.. I still can't comment on the quality of the on-board mixer, as i NEVER use it. I use a Pioneer controled (DDJ-SZ) or a Yamaha mixer. I don't like having multiple plugs and XLRs going to my speakers, I like to keep things clean. So i have one XLR going from my Pioneer to line-1 of the EON, and that's it. I control everything from my Pioneer or my Yamaha. Check out the additional photos that i have added. Full disclosure: I am NOT affiliated with JBL in any way. I've been DJing for 25 years, and learn how to use a piece of equipment at its best before leaving a review.
Review: Excellent sound! - Bought two of these for a 4 piece Southern Rock band who play small venues of 50-150 people. We use them as front of house and monitors with almost no issues with feedback. They are fantastic with miss and highs, and acceptable but a little weak on bass. But we expected that. We’re going to add a sub to the pair and I think we’ll be good. I can’t emphasize enough how great these sound. They’re easy to transport, easy to set up, and robust enough that I think they’ll stand up to the use of a busy up and coming band. Eventually, we’ll need more power than these can provide, but for now they are perfect.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why doesn't it have a warranty**
A: Unless you were looking at a used unit, it has a pretty good warranty. You'll have to check the JBL site for specifics, but the warranty is several years.

**Q: To owners of the Eon One: the microphone volume is quite low whereas volume is good via a mixer...your experience?**
A: The unit does not have microphone preamps, just a gain button on the first 2 channels. The low mic output volume is an issue with this unit. There is no fix other than to use an external mixer or mic preamp. I use 2 ART mic preamps for the XLR inputs and it works great. A mixer with mic preamps will work too. JBL doesn't consider this an issue but to me it is. I didn't want to carry extra stuff. Great sounding unit so I kept it even with the glaring fault.

**Q: Does it have an output jack to play thru a bigger system?**
A: I believe it does have an output jack on the back of the base.

**Q: Any recommendations for a cable for the monitor out?**
A: There will always be at least a lemon in a batch of 100 or 1000. I use seismic audio cables but any brand will work.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than Bose
*by G***K on January 12, 2021*

I am so happy with this purchase. I compared against the Bose L1, Maui LD 500 and a number of others and JBL beat them our soundly. I run a small Karaoke business on the side, not my main business I do it more for fun than anything else at a small Bar on Fridays. Busy night is 30-40 people. I replaced my Peavey 15" cabs and 250 Powered mixer with the JBL and I love it. For what I do its perfect and I could easily do a room of 80 people with this thing. Great bellowing lows and super crisp highs all at 40 pounds. Makes moving and setting up a breeze. I did splurge and pick up a small Mackie 6 channel mixer so I can tweak the sound to my liking, which I would recommend. The JBL on its own is fine but I wanted to ability to really tweak the sound and have more vocal effect other than reverb and the mackie does a great job. Shipping was awesome just two days from the time I ordered which was a week to 10 days sooner than expected. Again I cant say enough positive things about this system. I can only imagine what 2 of these together would sound like, you could easily fill a room with hundreds of people. Lastly at $699 it was no brainer compared to $999 for the Bose and I would have bought the Bose if I thought it sounded better. The only thing we need now is for things to get back to normal and regular gigs coming in!
