Against my better judgement, I replaced it with a cheaper aftermarket brand(COMPRESSORWORKS)of new compressor to save money, but the thing crapped out after only 2 years, and I had to start all over again. I learned my lesson well, and opted for the genuine Motorcraft YCC166 compressor as a basis for a new, severe-service A/C system that also has a Severe-Service, Automatic-Adjusting Orifice Tube (4Seasons #38904 for ambient air temps above 105F.), and a full charge (7 ounces) of PAO 68 Synthetic Refrigerant Oil , as well as a new 4Seasons Accumulator/Drier and new o-ring seals throughout. Topped off with a new Hayden #2795 Severe-Service Fan Clutch, the new system now out-performs the original equipment, keeping the engine cooler, the A/C performance is measurably better, while saving fuel as well.
