Simply OK
Bought these for a mini security project I was working on with door sensors. works well but as most other reviews, the magnets do get really hot in less than a minute of running them with 12v.Otherwise, they work for what I needed them for.

Diameter is 1.8cm NOT 0.8cm
I bought this for a model railway layout. I just needed a small solenoid to use in conjunction with a relay for a scratch-built crane to pick up small metal objects from a model wagon. This solenoid is described as "Size: Dia:0.8cm / 0.31inch, Height: 1.5cm / 0.59inch." However the actual size is Dia:1.8cm / 0.75inch, Height: 1.5cm / 0.59inch. I've tested it under 7.5 volts rather than 12 volts and it picks up the items I want it to, although these are no more than a couple of hundred grams. I don't need it to pick up 3kg so can't say if this will do what it says. It gets quite warm after half an hour of use, but again, I've not used it at full voltage or for long periods of time.Luckily I can use this on other parts of the layout so it's not a wasted purchase, but because of the incorrect size description I can't use it for the purpose I intended it for.

rubbish magnets
Thus electromagnet has very low pulling power, nothing like the 3kg as stated by seller
