(Revised) With the water off and nozzle not fully closed, how much play is in the threads when you wiggle the 2 nozzle pieces? Very faint? 1/64? 1/32?

They are standard hose fitting O rings

This is not 3/4th it is too wide for my hose, are you sure about the measurements?

I am surprised! I connected both nozzles to expansion hoses that measure 3/4" across the hose connections. The end of the nozzle measures 1". The washers fit snuggly in the hose ends. Sorry you are having difficulty.
