This is really not a "classical" medication, but a very basic chemical.  I hate to tell you but many "American" pharmaceuticals that appear to be born and made in the USA are outsourced (or components outsourced) for production in foreign countries.  Generics (which are very common these days), are even more commonly made elsewhere.  The FDA (which is at best limited and ineffective) cannot inspect overseas production of most pharmaceuticals.  This particular product says, "Distributed by Perrigo  Allegan, MI 40910."  It could be made in one or many places.  Then again the original, Miralax, could be made in one or many places.  I really doubt the information of manufacture is available without a major investigation.  Welcome to the 21st century!   If you are worried about quality when made overseas, many counties are far more stringent about policing production than we are - especially if NOT made in the USA.  We live in a world economy despite what out "leaders" tell us.  I can guarantee whatever you buy, you will not be able to track down it's origins.

The prices can vary quite a bit on AMZ and I think its an example of supply vs demand.
Keep your eyes on your favorite brands and  watch for the best deal. 
What I suggest if you have the budget is to stock up and always have an extra on hand. When you break into your inventory start checking the prices daily if you can. I think you can also set a reminder to notify you of price drops.
