Yes the insoles are removable. If you would like to add your own insole, you can.

No barely covered on inside, could feel the metal edge from steel toe

It does have some oil resistance but there is no slip rating for this boot, we haven’t tested for it. It is our #1 selling economy boot & it does very well overall. But if you are looking for a boot that is designed for excellent slip & traction, the Chesapeake would not be the first choice.
