I wasn't sure that it would fit but I decided that I could simply return the item if it didn't work out. So I felt lucky that it was a good match up to the original headset. In installing the new headset, I just had to be sure to install the complete headset including the race at the bottom, the dust seal, the bearings and the new bearing races/cups. The old cups were pressed in and had to be knocked out and the new cups had to be pressed in carefully. I assembled it all and took the bike for a test ride to make sure that the steering wasn't too loose or too tight. I thought I'd gotten it just right, but after the first 15 mile ride, I had to tighten it up again once all the parts had settled into their places. Now, it's nice and smooth to ride. Not super expensive and is pre-greased.
