IPS 83689 3.5-Inch Flush Mechanical Cleanout Repair Plug

Not the heaviest duty cover, but will work for the side of my driveway. Installed it with zero difficulty. Make sure you read the specifications carefully, which I did before buying. This says 3.5" diameter, but it fits my 4" internal diameter pipe perfectly and it tightens up no problem (i.e., it is tight when installed and tightened with the included hex wrench). I spent hours researching the correct cover to install over this sewer cleanout pipe. Lived in the house for 8 years before I figured out the hole in the driveway was connected to the sanitary sewer (cleanout connection), after it cost $500 to remove the plastic cup that some yo-yo put in the hole years ago as a cover, which caused the line to become totally blocked.

I had the replace the plug clean out in my basement because I had to destroy it to get it out. The old one was a screw in and was completely flush with the floor. The new one sticks 1/4” above the floor surface but does not interfere with door which has to open above it. I like the flush screw head and the fact that it’ll be easy to remove if I ever need to in the future. It came with 3 Allen head wrench which was a bit of an overkill, but not a problem. It seals well and is built sturdy.

There is a flush out on our driveway that is only a few feet from our garage door. It is almost impossible to avoid driving over it. Eventually the inner pvc threads broke and pvc caps would no longer stay in place. This has been a pain in the butt for the last 10 years. This is perfect and so far has functioned flawlessly. It is flush with the driveway and completely flat- so I no longer need to worry about driving over it. This has solved an issue that has been a thorn in my side for a decade.

I bought this to replace an old decade expansion plug in a 3.5 in cast iron cleanout. Unfortunately, the 3.5 in plug is not it is >3.75 in. (see photos). Good looking product but it will not go into a 3.5 in hole.

I have a 4" ID cast iron sewer cleanout near the street which needed a new cover. My toddler discovered the old one was loose and couldn't be tightened. I like that this cover is flat with no bolt, etc. sticking up so it's less of a trip hazard, and once it's tightened down it stays in place. Thanks to to other reviewers I bought this 3.5" model which is a perfect fit for the 4" ID pipe. I show in a photo that it expands just past 4" making it perfect.

This plug fit perfectly. I’ve been having issues finding a plug for a 4” pipe. I finally measured the inside diameter of the pipe and looked for plugs accordingly. This was the only flush mount one that I found that would fit. It comes with everything you need for the install.

My clean-up trap is buried in the floor with a piece of flooring material over it to hide it. The trap is so close to the underlayment that there is very little clearance. This cap works well and is easy to tighten, but I had to trim the plastic lip around the edge in a couple places just to get it to fit and still get the flooring material back over the top of it. Trimming was easy enough with a hacksaw (just dense plastic material), but is there really a need for such a large lip?

I measured my old plug, which was about 3.75". This plug fit perfectly in my old cast iron clean out pipe, and with a turn of the screw, fit snugly. No fussing around or modifying anything. Literally five seconds to fit in in, and tighten it. Nice to find something well made and that does what is says it will do. My old one with a butterfly nut was rusted out and the metal was a joke and broke easily. This is a much better design and well made. Very happy.

Quality is good, sits almost flat. I believe my opening was roughly 3 5/8", and this fit snug.

I used this to replace an old brass bolt on cleanout cap in my basement which was a deal breaker for installing LVP flooring. Two important tips. Do not overtighten and do not over loosen or you'll drop the clamp down the pipe. I purchased a 3.5 inch cap and it's more like 3.7". The inside diameter of my pipe is 3.7 so it was a snug fit with only a few turns of the hex bolt to get it sealed.

Came without the key to tighten it, but I had a spare one that fits so it's all good. Is a good strong product.

The plug is just fine for use in a tube, but I needed it to seal a 1/8" plastic wall. Without a clear picture or a cross section drawing, it wasn't certain that it would work. Of course, it didn't work, the rubber seal is too far from the flange. But Amazon gets 5 stars for no questions return/refund. In it's place, I bought "Oatey 33403 Plastic Plug (with Galvanized Screw and Wing nut), 4-Inch" and that product worked perfectly (the rubber seal is directly against the flange).

Does not accommodate 3.5" pipe interior.
