because of his good behavior, I got it for him as a ...
It overtly says not suitable for children on the cover, but I have a 3 year old that is obsessed with Zombies and other spooky things...He’s an October baby and still excited for Halloween and it’s Janurary lol I watched a reading of the book on YouTube before I purchased to make sure it wasn’t freaky. We then watched it together and HE WAS OBSESSED! So he asked for it every day since then and eventually, because of his good behavior, I got it for him as a reward. He wanted to read it instantly when it arrived. It’s an adorable and mild story on a hungry zombie, nothing profane in my opinion. My son knows what zombies are and what they do, But this would be his first real look at a zombie in action aside from his Halloween abc book. I do warn though, there is one freaky image and it’s on the back cover! I did not see it on the video and didn’t realize until my son showed me! The zombie is using a head as a beverage... That threw me off so I felt it was important to share.

He used to love Eric Carle as a little kid
My 10 year old son wanted this book. He used to love Eric Carle as a little kid. He loved this book. The illustrations are spot on when it comes to Eric Carle. The story is super cute for a kid who loves zombies like he does. Same exact story line as The Hungry Caterpillar, the caterpillar is replaced with a zombie. The zombie rises out of his grave and is hungry, then eats through astronauts, football players, clowns, etc.... Then he eats through a ton of body parts leaving him feeling badly. So he then eats through some brains. Goes back in his grave, then the havoc begins. All the people he ate are now zombies. This is not a story for children under the age of 8. My son is 10 and loves zombies, he thought this story was super funny. I did too! Cute book for zombie lovers.

Cute “scary” book.
I bought this book for my 4 year old because I’m a horror fan and would like to pass on that interest (in a cute way). My son loved it and so do I! I had to explain what a zombie and a corpse is, so beware if that’s not your idea of a good time for a toddler.

Printed in China
The book is super cute and my kids love it but even though it's a New York publisher is states on the cover printed in China.. I wish Amazon has special logo/marker for stuff actually made in the US as I'd rather support American jobs!!

Fabulous parody book
I know this is explicitly not for children, but my 4 year old niece adamantly requested a zombie themed birthday party. She really loves Halloween like gore and weird dark stuff. She’s a little kooky like her parents. So I got her this book. We all sat around cracking up all weekend reading it. It’s so well done. Great gift for anyone.

Not a preschool book, but excellent parody!
Growing up, The very hungry Caterpillar was one of my favorite books. Disparity cracks me up! And my kids love it, too. It may not be appropriate for all young, preschool children, though all of my kids love it. Even my littlest littles. It's definitely not a typical preschool book like the original. It's about a zombie eating people and brains, not a caterpillar eating leaves and fruit.

Brilliant blend of happy memories and zombies
For those of us who remember (heck, it's still being published) that hungry caterpillar book, this is a top notch parody. It sticks very close to the original in style (artwork, page sizes, language) and is nicely zombie-fied without being overly grisly.A little expensive for its size, but it's more a novelty product than anything else.
