Great traction control
This product worked great back in January in central Texas when we had ice & snow! Highly recommended!

Works well and don't understand the complaints about the packaging.....
I have been using this product frequently during the wintry icy months for over two years and it has been working just fine as it is intended to. It is not an ice melt, and it says so quite clearly and not sure why some people would rate this negatively because it doesn't melt ice. It provides excellent traction and absolutely does not corrode the blue stone steps that I have nor does it stain the concrete sidewalks - a couple of rain showers will wash any leftover away with any color that may have been left behind. It also only needs to be applied a thin layer. Don't over do it and then complain you need to use too much. As for the packaging, I do not find it difficult to handle. I am small woman with thin fingers and can open it without any problems. I don't even need to use any tools to help me open it. I am running out from a tub that I bought last year so I am going to order another one as soon as I finish this review.

If you're concerned about your pets and plants and slippery, icy surfaces, TRY THIS!!
I was looking for something "pet friendly" to combat slippery areas around our house when I saw this product. I was also looking for something that wouldn't harm plants. I found this product to be just the solution that I was hoping for. I read other people's reviews and saw that some people complained about Traction Magic being messy, staining walkways, being difficult to spread, etc. I figured I'd give it a try anyway because it's difficult to find a product that is safe for BOTH pets and plants. Our front steps get extremely icy in the winter because there is no gutter above that spot. Often during the day the steps get drenched from the melting of the snow on the roof, and at night all of that water turns to ice. After two or three days of warmer days and frigid nights, we've got a hefty ice ridge on the edge of the top step. If we were just using sand, it would get washed away, and it wouldn't stick to the ice sufficiently at night. Traction Magic is easy to spread thinly with the small dispenser bottle that comes included. I thought it was WAY too small to be useful when I first saw it, but the size makes it easy to fill (just take off the top and scoop it right out of the bucket), and the handle on the bottle enables you dispense the stuff by quickly flicking your wrist back and forth, leaving a thin layer. Being able to spread it thinly is important if, like us, you need to reapply daily when there are warm days and cold nights. It doesn't stick together in clumps, and I've discovered in the past couple of major melting days that the cleanup in the spring will be quick and easy. What washes into the flower beds can stay there, and all that's left is a quick sweep of the walkway and the steps. I don't see any staining on the concrete steps, but the product does show up on snow, but it's a dark brick red that disappears when the snow melts. The particles are tiny jagged pieces, and they stick in place on ice. It looks like crushed lava rock maybe. Our dogs aren't bothered by the product at all. If you want something that works well on slippery areas and won't harm your pets and plants, definitely consider this product. I haven't tried it for getting your car out of slippery spots yet, but I think it would work for that purpose VERY well because it won't get thrown by your tires like sand tends to. After you get used to applying it thinly, you'll see how a little goes a looong way. I thought that the 15 lb bucket would last a couple of weeks, but I've used it numerous times and barely made a dent. It does seem expensive, but if you spread it thinly you more than get your money's worth.

Works well and comes with a small spreader
I found it worked very well. I did not spread a lot and it prevented me slipping on ice about 3 inches thick. I plan on using the spreader in the car in case i get stuck/ slip and then the big container on my driveway which is sloped. Not a lot of experience with it long term yet. I will update later.

I wish it worked
We had snow followed by rain that quickly froze to ice, very dangerous. I decided to try buying the small container to see how it works. I tried spreading the smaller size container the moment it arrived. Unfortunately, it was gone quickly. It didn't cover much ground and after trying walking on it, I am sorry I did it. It does not provide enough traction that I am worried that people will rely on it to keep them safe when it won't. And since it does not melt the ice and is dark in color, it remains there, creating the impression of safety. I guess I can see keeping one of these very small containers in your car in case you have to exit your car onto ice in an emergency, by laying it down thickly, but for the price for so little material, I don't think I will be doing that. I could probably do the same with soil for free. One more thing, though not an issue since I used this all up in one go. The container has a rotating top like a salt shaker, but once I was able to pop open the sealed part, the entire top ring came off and does not pop back on, so is I had any left, I would not have been able to seal it back closed. Nice idea, sorry it didn't work for me.

Limited use product
This product came as advertised but i was looking for an ice melting product that would be safe for my stamped concrete driveway. This product may have some ice melting quality but it is really pretty much a bucket of sand to provide traction in limited circumstances. Would be great for getting a car out of ice or snow by the side of the road. It is very messy. I thought it might (and still may) stain my driveway and it tracks into the house. It would take a lot more of this product to cover an entire driveway than a comparable amount of ice melt so it would be comparatively expensive as a regular snow or ice melt product used that way.

It works but doesn't melt the ice.
This is not ice melt. It's just for traction. It sits on top of the ice and keeps you from slipping when you walk on it. It does not melt the ice and will wash away if you use it while the snow is still coming down.

Highly recommend
This works very well when you open your car door and there is a sheet of ice. Also works when there's ice on the parking lot between your car and a business or home. I didn't have to use much and I didn't slip. Highly recommended.

It works
This works very well but a couple of days later I bought a massive bag of the same contents, different name though and it was the same price.

I didn't read the reviews carefully enough, this product ...
I didn't read the reviews carefully enough, this product is not designed to be an ice-melter, in fact it's intended to form a traction layer over exiting ice and packed snow. Returned.
