The proof is in the pictures!
I am so impressed with this Hoover Powerscrub Deluxe! As a self professed cleaning nerd, this carpet cleaner was worth every penny! I had an original Hoover Steamvac many years ago that sadly stopped working after many years of regular use. Switched to Bissell due to friends and family recommendations and it being the seemingly more popular option nowadays. It worked well but did not impress me nearly as much as this Hoover! It handles pet hair very well considering I have a husky mix and she sheds alllll the time, it is extremely efficient with water usage and thanks to its full size colossal capacity emptying and refilling is easier and less frequent. You can see how well it brought my rug back to life in these pictures! Hence the title of the review. After a couple hours the rug was dry which I couldn’t say for the Bissell, it would usually take 12-24 hours sometimes days even to be fully dry. It seems like the Hoover is very well constructed at this point as well. I haven’t tried it on big spills or sticky messes yet but I don’t have much of that anyway. Another thing I really appreciate in addition to its great suction and cleaning ability is how easy it is to actually clean the MACHINE when you’re done with it! Everything comes apart and is easy to access. I also love the ability to wash and rinse the carpet again with the dial on the front. DON’T ever get rid of that feature Hoover! It cleans beautifully. It’s easy to use, and it gets the job done, without leaving your carpet a sudsy mess! It really does let you clean more in less time. If you’re looking for something to keep up with everyday dirt and grime and high traffic this is the machine for you!

Used it yesterday to clean an area rug. So far so good. Worked as advertised. I did spend a lot of extra time drying the rug, but that was by choice because I was concerned about leaving it too wet. I have a carpet pad underneath and do not want mold to develop. We have a dog, so I’m always worried about my area rugs smelling. Decided to take the leap and buy this vs hiring a company. I did a lot of looking - reading reviews and watching review videos and chose this model for the excellent drying feature. I can attest to that. I could feel the warmth under my feet while I was running it. The color of the water from the dirty water tank was disgusting. My rug wasn’t stained, so I can’t say it removed anything specific, but my rug looks brighter. I’m a bit of a clean freak; my husband says my dirty is other people’s clean. Whatever. All I know is this baby is my new friend lol. I didn’t need the accessories at this point, so can’t review them. A few things to note: there wasn’t a guide for how much carpet cleaning solution to add to the tank. Only said to use the machines fill line or I could go to their website for a guide. The tank has two sides, one for hot tap water and the other for the cleaning solution. The fill line for the cleaning solution seemed excessive to me, so I just put in what I thought was right. The solution basically mixes with the water in the tank, so I’m not sure the reason for the separation. When done and I’d removed both tanks, it says to lay the unit down onto its handle in order to maintenance the heads. Some water leaked out at this point where the cleaning tank sits. I realized this was due to water still remaining in the tubes, so I picked up the unit and just held it upside down. Quite a bit of water came out. I’m hoping this might help mitigate the rust other reviews mentioned and plan to do this after every use. Cleaning the dirty water tank is a challenge. It’s compartmentalized, so trying to clean and get the water out of some of the smaller areas was difficult. None of this outweighs being able to clean my rugs anytime I want or having to hire a company. At this price, if it rusts in a certain number of years, I’ll just buy another one because in my opinion it will have paid for itself many times over.

5 Stars-A Workhorse
I bought my original Hoover PowerScrub carpet cleaner about 10 years ago, and it finally reached the end of its life when one of the wheels kept popping off. After getting a full decade of use out of it, replacing it was an easy decision. I purchased another one during the Amazon Prime Day sale, and I'm hoping this one lasts just as long. This machine is a true workhorse. It is very durable, but it is also heavy. It's not for the weak, you'll need a little muscle to push and pull it across your carpet. However, the cleaning power more than makes up for the extra effort. The photos speak for themselves. Just look at the black water in my recovery tank and after I emptied it into the toilet! I keep my house very clean and don't allow anyone to wear shoes inside, yet this machine still pulled an unbelievable amount of dirt from my carpets. It's honestly a little scary to see how much dirt can hide deep in carpet fibers, even in a clean home. There are a couple of small changes with the newer model. It no longer comes with a printed owner's manual, so you'll need to download it online. It also doesn't include the small spinning hand tool that came with my original machine. I really liked that attachment because it worked well on stains and upholstery, so I was disappointed to see it missing. Fortunately, I already knew how to use the machine, but I wanted to give new buyers a heads-up. Despite those minor changes, I still highly recommend this carpet cleaner. My first one lasted about 10 years, cleaned incredibly well, and proved to be a reliable investment. If you're looking for a powerful carpet cleaner that pulls an amazing amount of dirt from deep within your carpets, you really can't go wrong with this one.

Pleasantly surprised- cleaned my carpets and reasonably priced. Glad I purchased.
I read all of the other reviews and decided to get this one over the Shark and Bissell products. My first attempt was mediocre at best, mainly because I ignored what all of the other reviews said. The water tank is small, so it kept running out, which made me think the suction wasn't working. Once I learned the "dance moves", ie to choose a smaller section (4 ft x 5ft or so) and do the cleansing slowly, then go back over it with the rinse, and then refill the rinse and empty the yucky water container about every 2-3 sections, then I saw great results. I had not cleaned our carpets entirely since we moved in in 2017, so I ended up doing some rooms twice. I can say that I could see the dirt and grime lifting and that after several runs in the VERY high trafficked areas, the spots and other stains were gone. I'm too lazy to do anything above and beyond, so that was solely based on a few runs of this and not using any additional stain fighter. I was impressed. I'm giving it 4 stars because as others said, the water tank is small and requires refilling. The solution tank size is perfect and would last a long while. I also think the cord should be longer and apparently I've gotten lazy because having the actually wrap the cord around instead of having a button that sucks up the cord automatically about did me in. Not a deal breaker, and it was worth the $135 I paid for it. For what it's worth, I bought one jug of the cleaning solution and after about 10 hours of cleaning, I still have solution left.

Best carpet cleaner hands down for the money!
This carpet cleaner is amazing, not only did it remove old "15yr" spots but brought the carpet to almost new appearance and texture. As far the filling and cleaning takes a little time to get it smooth disassemble and reassemble, but the suction is very powerful the thick carpet was almost damp dry to the touch, and completely dry in under an hour. I'm so happy I went with this model it's light weight, and far quieter than the last one I had. Giving the fact it was on sale 40% off didn't hurt. I highly recommend this cleaner!

Step by Step Review
Review 1: Caveat: I have not used this machine yet. It was delivered earlier today and I plan to use it when I get home. So these 5 stars are for ontime delivery, but I plan to write a follow-up once I have more information and experience. A lot of research went into this purchase. We have never owned a full sized carpet washer before, always using rentals. But I found we were not really renting as often as the carpet needed cleaning, so having one always handy made sense. For some reason I'd always thought 'Hoover for vacuum cleaners' and 'Bissel for carpet washers'. So I was strongly leaning toward a Bissel when I started my research. The posted reviews for this model convinced me otherwise. My visiting daughter's dog gave us a fresh stain just last night (fireworks), so I am anxious to try this unit out. Stay tuned. Review 2 - Follow-up: When I got home, I found the box had a huge gash in one corner. Loss of points for FedEx, but bonus points for Hoover's packing - the cleaner was undamaged. Assembly was simple (2 screws) and intuitive. Other parts snapped on to the machine with large solid clamps. There's nothing fragile or flimsy about this machine. The print material does have some flaws: The quick start guide describes cleaning, explaining a first and 2nd spray pass, but goes no further. The full manual clarifies that this should be followed by at least 4 suction-only passes, to remove the water. Also, in the full manual, cleaning of the brushes is said to be explained in detail on p.16, but actually occurs on p.15. Two complaints I'd read about in other reviews don't bear up: 1. 'The power cord attaches at the bottom forcing you to hold the cord up out of your work area.' While this is true, there is a place on the upper handle where you can attach the power cord to keep it up off the carpet. That said though, the nature of this type of movement necessitates you holding the cord anyway. So this is not a design flaw, just the nature of the action. 2. 'Slight jarring of the unit causes it to disengage suction.' I never encountered this. In fact, the only time I can see this even being possible is when your dirty water tank is almost full anyway. Essentially, there is a float ball in that tank. When the ball rises on top of the dirty water in the tank, eventually it gets high enough to block an opening, preventing you from overfilling the tank with dirty water. Pretty slick! If the tank gets close to full, and you jar it, I can see how the ball might prematurely splash up and block that opening. This seems pretty minor, and to me would just indicate you might want to empty that tank now rather than wait a minute or two, until it is completely full. Clean-up was impressive. Every place on the unit where crud (hair, other bits, etc.) could collect, was designed to be removed from the machine, easily opened, and simply but thoroughly cleaned. Water and solution go in 2 separate locations and are mixed only when used. The plus to this is that when you're done, you can throw out the remaining clean water and none of the solution. A small spot washer we had previously required tossing out the solution/water mix or starting out the next time with a cold mix. The end result: The carpet looks good, though some bad spots remain. Pretreating will, not surprisingly, be needed. The ammonia smell from a urine spot is now all gone. The dirty water, as seen with commercial washers, came out looking more like chocolate milk. The dirty water tank was cleaned after this and even when the carpet was totally redone with just hot rinse water, the suctioned dirty water was almost as dark. After a total washing and a total rinsing, the carpet dried in a fraction of the time that I'd come to expect with commercial units. Doors and windows were open, to be sure, but cleaning was started after dinner and the furniture could be put back before packing it in for the night, and this is the Seattle area, not desert weather. After one thorough use, this carpet washer gets a very well deserved 5 full stars. Zero regrets on this purchase. I highly recommend it.

Great. Get lots of shampoo for a big house.
Things I know you want to know: // Worth it? Yes. I paid $129 but would have paid more knowing what I know. // Does it get deep? Yes. I used Oxy carpet cleaner, but man does it clean. // Noticeable difference? Yes! You'll notice that my carpet is much cleaner. But keep in mind that my carpet is gray and beige, so it hides dirt well. But the fact that it's so much brighter is undeniable proof that this machine does a great job. // Easy to learn? Yes. After a while, you'll get the hang of it and know when to release more shampoo on areas that need the extra treatment. But it's easy to use. // Easy to maneuver? Yes! It's light even with a full gallon of water. And it's just like a vacuum. It's surprisingly maneuverable and smooth. No kinks in the motion. Very smooth. // Long cord? Yes. My living room is huge (the furniture is still in the living room in the picture, not in another room), and I only had to plug it in another socket to get around the furniture. // How often to refill? This depends on how fast you are cleaning. Normally you want a slow, deliberate pace. I can go for 10-15 minutes before needing to dump the water. // *** When do I refill? *** You'll know when when it's time to refill when 1: You hear the suction sound change to just being a motor around 2: You'll stop seeing water being pulled in when you back up 3: The orange ball in the dirty water reservoir has risen to the hole. This is a sign that the dirty water is as high as it can go, and the cleaner will stop sucking in more dirty water. // Easy to pour and refill? Yes. You'll develop a quick change routine: pour dirty water; rinse sink while refill water is getting hot; refill and go. There is almost no way to over fill. The engineering has angled the reservoirs in a way that makes this extremely difficult. // Shampoo If you have a big house, I'd say get more than 64 oz of shampoo. There's nothing wrong with having leftovers. For a normal house, 64 should do all the rooms. // Sturdy? Very. I didn't have any mishaps but I stepped on the hose and it did not break. // Stairs? Attachments? I didn't do the stairs yet (hey, my house is big) but I tested the attachments and they are up to the task. The hand scrubber tool has lots of brushes and they rotate with power! I did my couch and it scrubbed out a stain I didn't think would come out. Anyway, I'm tired of writing. Just get it. If this doesn't tell you it's worth it, I don't know what will. I'd like to be with some ladies right now but instead I'm taking the time to write this review because I'm so impressed with it. If you don't like it, you can return it, and you're covered with 2 year warranty, I think. The game I'm watching on the TV just mentioned a Slurpee. Maaan I want one of those right now. You should get one after you get this because you can clean up any mess you make.

Company is oblivious to the issues with SpinScrub Brushes
Initial reaction when I had first received this Carpet cleaner, was pretty good. Opened the box, only thing I had to assemble was the handle and it was ready to go. Most of the 5-Star reviews have covered the good part of its functioning. I will highlight what they may not have experienced yet. The SpinScrub brushes makes the spinning action using a turbine mechanism. This turbine has cheap parts and it starts rusting as soon as it comes in touch with water, which could happen right after the first wash. This issue has been widely reported in Hoover's other models as well, and yet Hoover's clueless Engineering team is unable to change the design or the parts and keeps on using non-stainless steel and cheap parts which seize to operate, right after they come in contact with water and rust. Check the following link on Amazon Q&A where a user has asked a question after his or her machine stopped working: https://www.amazon.com/Brushes-not-spinning-something-internally/forum/Fx23UOVL4I8KXTK/Tx26GM4WHEYHZHV/1?asin=B00009R66F When I experienced this issue as I was getting ready to use the machine, I did an online search and numerous videos on how to fix the Hoover carpet cleaner's turbine mechanism. It's just been a year and have used the cleaner twice. I am very handy with fixing things. So, I thought, I will give it a try before calling Hoover for warranty claim. In my case though, it won't fix as the shaft between two bearings is completely rusted and jammed. The bearings are rusted too, tried using WD-40 and tried to move the part but it won't budge. I have now sent a message to Hoover Support, let's see how quickly they can have it fixed. I will come back and update the review accordingly. ----- Update as of May 4th ----- My machine was still under warranty. I had contacted the Hoover Support via email but they refused to send the affected part and instead referred to me to their authorized service center. I tried to reason with them that it's waste of time for me drive about 11 mi to take the machine for a problem which I have already diagnosed. They refused and reiterated to take it to authorized service center. I had eventually taken the machine last week to service center. The service center folks were very receptive and told me that this is a common problem but good for their business. Warranty or not, they get paid either way. Service Center had called me last Saturday that they had replaced the part under warranty. I just need to now pick it up. ----- Update as of May 6th ----- I picked up the machine today and it has a new turbine that rotates the SpinScrub brushes. This repair was done under warranty but I am concerned that warranty would soon expire. So, I asked the service tech about what options I have when (not if) it happens again. He told me that the part is about $30 and their service fee for changing the part is $20. So, I will be looking at $50 expense every time this part needs replacement as the company WILL NOT ship the part directly to consumer even if they could handle the repairs themselves. An additional fact to keep in mind before you pick this cleaner.

No need to hesitate. Just buy this machine already!
I have an expensive Bissell carpet cleaner that I’ve used less than a handful of times. When I recently tried to use it after my dog had an accident, the sprayer failed. I thought it could have been clogged but nope. It just seized. So I bought this one after reading the reviews. Wow, am I ever impressed! It cleaned my carpet so well it looks as good as new. So very, very happy with this purchase. It was very easy to set up and very easy to clean. It arrived in a ‘short’ box and I had immediate dread that I would have to do a lot of assembling. Nope. It just took 2 screws to attach the handle. That was it. I can’t recommend this machine enough. Also, it’s much lighter than my Bissell. Much, much lighter and seems to have better suction. Couldn’t be any happier. Do not hesitate. Just buy it. You won’t regret it.

Wrong plug+No adapter= fire&broken machine
I was very excited to use my machine. It came with what looks like a USA plug and no adapter. I read the instructions, used my own adapter, measured and filled the machine, turned it on and instantly heard a bang, with the smell of burning and then machine turned off... I felt it was going to create an electrical fire, especially how there is water inside the machine and something has exploded in there. Not a nice experience.
