## Description

Product Description M-D door bottom, u-shape, series: Ultra, 1-3/4 in width, 36 in length, White, UL listed, ADA approved, with vinyl insert, dry cap. Energy loss through the bottom of doors can be minimized with the installation of a door bottom in conjunction with your smooth top threshold. This combination provides a weatherproof seal between the bottom of the door and the top of the threshold. Drip caps also provide your exposed entry ways protection by diverting water away from the door bottom and thresholds. M-D Building Products offers multiple combinations of new and replacement door bottoms and drip caps that will fit most entry doors. From the Manufacturer Aluminum drip caps from M-D Building Products divert rainwater away from the bottom of your door. Slotted holes allow for easy adjustment.

Review: Simple and basic – works great - Well made of sturdy aluminum. Requires cutting to fit most doors. A Dremel with a Cut-off wheel for metal works nicely. Applying calk to the back when mounting ensures a watertight seal. My preference is DAP Dynaflex, as it's more durable than other forms of calk, including 100% silicone. After years of trying this kind or that, Dynaflex is now the only kind of calk I ever buy–period. Also, when using any sort of sealant/calk/etc, ensure the surfaces are very clean. Isopropyl alcohol is preferred, as it cleans well and leaves no residue, unlike many common household cleaners. When mounting, ensure there is clearance wherever the door will swing. You might want to use a couple small strips of duck tape to hold it in place until it's permanently attached. There was a big thunderstorm here today. Not a single drop made it inside the front door. YAY!!!
Review: Does the job. - I was surprised how relatively sturdy this is. Installation went fine--i made my measurements and then trimmed it to length with a hacksaw. So far it's helping keep leakage from happening during big storms and is pretty solid. Overall a good buy as is similarly priced in brick and mortars.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be mounted over the door opening or is it for bottom?**
A: I believe it was designed for the bottom of the door; but if it physically fits, it may be used to protect the gap at the top of the door. This company does make and Amazon does sell an aluminum strip that is designed for the top of doors. "Pemko Aluminum Door Bottoms Overhead Rain Top Drip, Clear Anodized, 2-1/2”W x 52"L x 5/8”H"

**Q: Does this come in black?**
A: Not that i know of. Aluminum finish is fine.

**Q: I am confused by the photos. Our door opens inward zero wiggle room. Does the inside (underneath) have a little ledge to it also or just the curve?**
A: This item may need to be cut to the width of the door. It will also need to be installed about an inch above the bottom of the door.

**Q: Can this be attached to a metal security door?**
A: I mounted mine onto metal clad patio doors with no problem, drilling each pilot hole carefully.  If the construction of your door is much heavier, I would presume your only problem would be to replace included screws with different, longer sheet metal screws.
