Do I need an adapter ring to connect to an x100V?

Nope, it screws right on the front of the lens after you unscrew the ring the x-100v comes with.

Will this work wth the x100s?

The TCL-X100 ii is backward compatible with the X100S. The only difference is that the converter can communicate with the X100F and X100V so that, when the converter is connected, the camera will automatically change its settings to accommodate the converter. On your X100S, you have to go into the menu and tell it that a teleconverter has been attached. Whether you should buy this one or the original TCL-X100 will depend on a couple of things. If you want to save a bit of money now, you can buy the original, which is optically equivalent, because you would be paying extra for the ability of the TCL-X100 ii to communicate with newer cameras, but not with your X100S. However, if you plan to upgrade your X100S to an X100F or later, you may as well go with the TCL-X100 ii because you will appreciate that feature when you do upgrade your camera.

x100f has an internal digital zoom: goes to 70mm equivalent. can I still use that feature with this lens? that would be a 98mm equivalent.
