KuhnRIKON 2771 Original Swiss Peeler, Purple Blue, Carbon Steel, Imports

I love this peeler, very precise and sharp, lightweight to hold. The best peeler I have ever used.

Works great. Have even used to peel the skin off of squash. Inexpensive but the best one we have used since we prefer y shape peepers. I know a lot of people complain that it rusts but I am going to call that a user error. This is not stainless steel, don't expect to be able to treat it like it is. If you know someone who owns a kitchen knife or a pocket knife that is not stainless ask them what oil to rub on it after you wash it that is food safe. Rinse immediately after use and NEVER put this in the dishwasher. If that is too high maintenance for you this probably is not your peeler and you should probably not purchase any expensive kitchen tools so you are not out a lot of money if you mess your stuff up.

I did my research on the best Y type vegetable peeler and the Kuhn Rikon came up as the one to buy. What I received is a cheap plastic handle that I didn't want to hold too hard for fear of snapping it in half. There are 2 flimsy blades that wouldn't grasp the potato I was trying to peel. It was ridiculous. I've never had a peeler this flimsy and nonfunctioning before. I'm glad I kept my old OXO swivel peeler. I had to finish peeling the potato with it.

I've used this a few times. I'm not a great cook, so I am careful with kitchen utensils. This does a great job of peeling, etc. I am very very careful with this product. It's sharp, so if you are a clutz in the kitchen, be careful using it.

Pros: Super easy to use, super sharp blade, great edge retention, very affordable.Cons: Rusts easy if not washed and dried immediately.
