I would say YES --if it is for the 2.5 year old. It's a great game. May be fun for him/her to play with older siblings, too. Even better if you can get it on sale.. Amazon prices fluctuate constantly, but I think I paid 12 bucks ;)

Can two people share the same letter square, or does one kick the previous chip off?

Two people do not share and you can't kick anyone off unless you have either an X or a Z (can't remember which) but there are 2 spots for every letter.
