I didn't save the ear hair, but it's suitable for the grown long beard! For the ear, I think, an electric machine would be safe.

Do you need shaving cream before you use this razor?

It is recommended as the blade is very sharp and shaving cream makes it easier to shave and shape with.

Can new blades be put in, or are these desposible only after a couple uses?

They are disposable . I have found that after about five uses they are getting a little less sharp. I use them to keep my beard line even on my cheeks.
