Case Club .50 Cal Ammo Can with Stainless Steel Locking Hardware

Solid and safe! Very strong construction, heavy (that's a good thing) and well sealed. I use the case as a camera enclosure and it's endured a snow storm and a winter thunderstorm. The locking hardware is strong, holds a 1/4 inch shackle lock. Update: I've had 6 of these containers in the field for well over a year. They sit outside, through rain, sleet, snow, ice - everything. Never any water leakage, after so much use they are finally showing some very slight paint chipping at the lock area. I'd give these things six stars if it was possible. As for the locks - don't get a cheap ass lock! I use only ABUS Titanium locks with 1/4" shaft and they also have spent over a year exposed to the elements without any visible wear. Like any lock they don't like very cold temps (like <10) and ice, but work fine if you apply some de-icer or heat for a minute or so with a butane torch.

In order to comply with California laws, when transporting ammo and pistols, they have to be in locked containers and not readily accessible to the owner. To comply with this as I make my next trip through California, I needed to have strong sturdy lockable boxes. The Case Club New .50 Cal Ammo Can with Pre-Installed Locking Hardware , made in China, is a good substitute for the military grade ammo can. It is all metal, but not as strong and rigid as the military surplus cans. The side walls flex when squeezed with one hand. I can't do this with my military can. It is lighter in weight than the military cans. It has the typical handle on top, seems to be stackable (divits), but the most important attribute is the presence of the bolt with the hole at the end that accepts a lock. My military can does not have this. Do not get me wrong. This can is sturdy enough for all of your civilian needs. The lock is not included so I also purchased the combination lock recommended with it on AMAZON. The lock fits well and is easy to use. As to price, it is more expensive than the used cans one can get at a surplus store but competes favorably with the other new cans posted on AMAZON, andit fits my needs in terms of California law. I bought two of them, one for ammo and one for pistols. I plan to purchase a few more for storage of other valuables.

I originally purchased a Sheffield "Field" box and wanted a locking box. It's made of plastic and wasn't as sturdy as I was hoping. Returned it and bought this Case Club Ammo Can. Night and day difference and this is a very sturdy, well-built ammo box. It has a durable locking mechanism and I also bought a 4-digit Master combination lock to go with it (Master Lock 643D Set Your Own Combination Padlock). Excellent choice if you're looking for a well-made, sturdy ammo box.

OUTSTANDING! This ammo can has far exceeded my expectations. The construction is solid and top quality. Hinges are firm. Most importantly, the seal of the lid is perfect. Just a couple minor paint streaks but no big deal. The lock hardware secure. I will be buying plenty more of these ammo cans from Caseclub. If you need to lock up your ammo for whatever reason and still want to use the steel ammo cans, this is for you. I bought two of these, one for my M&P Shield and the other for some ammo. These cans wont keep someone from stealing your gun and/or ammo that you have stored as they could just pick up the cans and break into them later, but we aren't talking about a huge gun safe either -- its main purpose for me was to keep children's hands away from the gun and ammo. Two things I would suggest getting with these cans Case Club 2 Pistol .50 Cal Ammo Can Foam (Pre-cut, Closed Cell, Military Grade Foam) MTM 100 Round Flip-Top Ammo Box 380/9MM Cal (Clear Blue) The foam I use obviously for my gun and magazines and the ammo boxes are an organized way of storing ammo in my second can. You can fit around 1000 rounds in the 50 cal ammo can with these boxes. I watched someone on Youtube who used these and color coded them. I use blue for my range ammo and red for my self defense ammo. Took one star away for the price.

I got this along with a lock, sling cable, and foam insert (seen here ...https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K8GWRYI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).. to lock "items" in my car. Ive tried fancier lock boxes which cost as much or more but they never were that great. This setup cost around $70 total but is simple and solid. No fancy electronics, lots of room, and is portable from car to car (with a sling cable) or even for hotel rooms etc when traveling. Just put the sling around the seat frame and put the other end in the lock when you secure the box. My only complaint and reason I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could is that the stud with a hole that receives the lock is a little small. Only a medium lock fits through the hole and the bend in the lock shackle will not pass through the hole (despite what you see in the product picture). I had a specific lock I wanted to use but it barely fit. It could be drilled out a little but there isnt much material left to work with. Never the less I like this much better than fancier alternatives.

Great ammo cans! In the past I have ordered used restored X military ammo cans. These turned out to be either worn on the seal area or slightly sprung in the hinge area from abuse. The almost perfect restored ones with locking hardware installed were much more expensive. The Case Club ammo cans are brand new. They do have a small sticker inside the can saying made in China. Overall, a very well made can with a perfect new seal and well installed quality locking hardware. For the price point, these are the only ammo cans I will be purchasing in the future. Great quality for less money.

Got this to safely store ammo that's strictly for home defense prepping; I'm not a hunter or arms-bearing professional. I have kids, and it was hard to find ammo cans that come ready to lock (without having to install some kind of hardware). This came just as promised, and consistent with the various positive reviews already here. The seal seems to be nice & tight, and it's super sturdy. Easy to lock too. It's not super-big (read the measurements/capacity info carefully), but it serves my purposes. Great product!
