Dorman 03218 Exhaust Manifold Hardware Kit Compatible with Select Models

These are definitely not the correct exhaust manifold fasteners for a 2001 Dakota 4.7 (search for Bapmic 6505316AA for correct set). They are too short and they don't have heavy washers like the originals. I now see that the listing has removed Dakotas as a fit.

Worked on 2001 Dodge Dakota 4.7L but be aware that the washers are not included in this kit. The correct kit includes the thick black washers but only comes with 4 bolts per kit and is much more expensive. I picked up a used "like new" kit with all 8 bolts for ~13 bucks and bought my own washers. It would have cost me ~ $80 for the other 2 kits to get 8 bolts at the local parts store. (~$60 on Amazon.)Note: The washers from the original bolts are too small to remove from the old bolts. Can't get them past the threads. 2 of my bolts were broken on the passenger side nearest the O2 sensor. All ok now after replacing the gasket. Also, to make life easier, use a punch in the center of the retainer plugs on the wheel well shroud. They are a pain to remove otherwise. Probly want to pick up some spares as I couldn't get all of them to fit snugly on re-install. Lastly, spray everything with PW blaster to free up rusted bolts before you attempt to disassemble everything. I'm in CA and mine was rusted pretty bad. Good luck...

These worked great for my Jeep with the 4.7L that had two broken studs on the rear of the driver's side manifold, causing a loud tick that subsided as the engine heated up. They required one size larger socket than the factory parts, so I'm hoping they are a bit more robust (even though they failed at the shaft anyway). The driver's side on a WK Jeep is a PITA with the steering components in the way; there were a few bolts that had to be removed/installed by feel as I couldn't see them. The passenger side is a relative cakewalk compared to that. Everything needs to be removed on both sides (wheel wells, battery/tray, fuse boxes/mounts, airbox, coolant reservoir, etc.) and various lengths of short/deep well sockets and a universal socket helped. These already have red threadlocker on the studs, you can add it to the bolts if you feel it's necessary, but I wouldn't put it on the nuts since they just hold on the heatshield. I also used a graphite/steel composite gasket (the factory only used graphite) purchased elsewhere.

I gave this product five stars since I am sure it would work for a 4.7L engine. However, I have a 3.7L engine but knew this when buying the product. If I could have located the equivalent set for the 3.7L I would have bought it instead. That being said, the two bolts with the longer standoff and the four basic hex bolts can be used on the 3.7L (the other two bolts are a throw-away). The previous owner had snapped two of the standoff bolts, so one of these kits along with my existing bolts was sufficient to use the best of the bunch to re-attach my two exhaust manifolds.It seems like a lot of money for just some bolts, and I am sure you can cobble-together something equivalent at the hardware store, but why bother when these fit perfectly?
