Never received mine, but my previous package seemed to work fine, hence the choice to reorder. Seems the the most cost effective way to also be environmentally friendly.

These were good. a little tacky. nice and in whole shells. the berries last a long time. i'm a first time buyer of soap nuts and they've treated me well so far. i've used them for shampooing, as a body wash, a face wash, laundry detergent, and dish detergent. i read that the liquid can sting your eyes. they make mine really itchy, but it's fine for me. these soap nuts are very good as laundry detergent. they don't leave a smell on my clothes. i am trying to avoid artificial scents in commercial laundry detergent. these soap nuts also work very well as dish detergent. i'm not sure if it's better than dish detergent, but it is just as good in my opinion.and as SHAMPOO, i have very, very fine, straight hair. i have had trouble with other natural shampoo recipes, trying to remove all excess oil from my hair so it doesn't look greasy all the time, which it does very easily, because my hair is really fine. I'm chinese, and my hair is so fine that if i don't at least partially blow dry it after shampooing, my hair dries like how it is as it's wet, and it looks greasy after, because it's clumpier. these soap nuts work very well for hair like that. i also like having to do fewer things in the shower, and though i don't plan on continuing my use of soap nuts as a facial cleanser for long (because my face needs more lovin than plain soap nut liquid), using this really shortens the amount of time i spend in the shower because i can just pour the liquid all over my hair and body.ALSO, my boyfriend (the account holder) has eczema and psoriasis. he's itchy all day every day. maybe not 24/7 though. anyways, he has a huge problem with shampoos and soaps drying out his scalp and skin, which makes him itch even more. he has dry, flaky skin in some areas, and other areas are just plain dry. he never uses soap or shampoo for this reason, and a regular rinse under the shower is enough for him to get clean or else he'd itch way too much from soaps and shampoos. these soap nuts work wonders for him. they don't magically vanish his dry, patchy spots, but they sure do help. his scalp is also less itchy after shampooing with this. his scalp starts getting very itchy every evening/night, because he's sensitive to having too much oil on his scalp. we found this out after i suggested he use soap nut liquid as a shampoo instead of simply rinsing with water. he has used this on his face as well. he has eczema on his face. he says it has made his skin softer. recently he did something stupid: he diluted 10% ACV with water, put it on his face, and left it on there for hours (reading miracle stories of other people leaving it on their face) and gave himself a chemical burn LOL. because he had such good results with soap nut liquid on his scalp, he decided to give it a try on his face, and it relieved him of a lot of itching and irritation. he hasn't used this for his body, yet, but i'm sure it will be great, since it was great on his scalp and face.BUT, my boyfriend always rubs on moisturizer in his scalp and his face after washing with the liquid, and paired together is how it works great on him. he does not use commercial, chemical-laden moisturizers. i make him 100% organic and natural moisturizer with high quality and nourishing ingredients. i've informed myself of how to tell higher quality ingredients from lower quality ingredients, or things to stay away from... like how most essential oils are bs, and filled with synthetics, etc. if you're interested in using essential oils in your homemade products, please research this, as it's very important. ^_^sorry for maybe weird wording and stuff, i haven't slept in a while and thought i could write a very informative review to help anyone else with my or my boyfriend's problems.

Very easy to use, cleans clothes well, and they smell fresh! As a mom of 6 ranging from 1 to 16 we always have laundry, but with this product even my 1 year old can throw the bag in and help out.

My first attempt at using these soap nuts didn’t go well so I put it away and didn’t try again for another several months. I had accidentally purchased two boxes, and because I’m am home due to the pandemic I thought I’d give it another shot.The reason I purchased the soap nuts is because I have been trying to reduce my plastic use and chemical use. I wanted to replace our laundry detergent, dish/hand soap, and most importantly shampoo. I’ve tried many different diy shampoos which end up nice the first day and then just build up city on the scalp. I even tried bar shampoo and brommer’s soap with little to zero positive things to say about those experiences. I get worried about my hair from time to time due to thinning from age and because when I was a teen I randomly lost half my hair (it was nuts, it was an untamable mane if you ask my mom) which has made me overly sensitive and protective of my hair. I even cut my long hair off every couple of years or so due to paranoia when I see the hair monster in the shower drain. So after deciding to try soap nuts again, I nearly burned the house down because I FORGOT I LEFT THE STOVE ON SIMMERING THESE SUCKERS! Literally I was like, “oh the neighbors must be having a BBQ,” like an idiot. I almost didn’t try again, but thankfully I didn’t ruin anything so I tried a new batch. Guess what? I loved it! I LOVE IT! It takes getting use to since it doesn’t sud, your hair will not feel clean, it won’t feel clean after you rinse it out either, and especially because I refrigerate the liquid soap it’s very cold (once summer hits it’ll feel pretty nice since I live in Hawaii). After a rinse and conditioner my hair feels light and soft, plus I can go a few days without washing. I have also successfully tested my liquid soap on dirty napkins/kitchen towels that I don’t like to wash with reg detergent because of the smell and their used around food. I have not tried it on reg dirty clothes though so I can’t attest to how strong the cleaning power is yet.Ok, so remember when I said I tried using the soap nuts the first time and I failed miserably? I attempted, from what I remember, a mix of included instructions and advice from reviewers. What I’m gonna tell you right now is that anyone saying to just boil the nuts in the satchel then toss it in the wash with your laundry does not know what clean is. This method doesn’t work, even when you use hot water in the washer. It’s not even enough to boil then set the nuts aside to cool for a couple of hours and use the water it’s soaked in. It will not be strong enough if you’re looking for a clean that will feel similar to regular detergent. I used this method on both reg laundry and a very light load of kitchen towels. Both times I had to re-wash with detergent.So here is what I did to make my liquid soap:-take two/three handfuls of nuts in a medium pot filled with water-boil, then set to simmer-simmer and stir for about 20 min to 1 hour depending on your tolerance of watching over the pot, how much water is used, and how “strong” you want the liquid - I simmered first 1 hour and added water as the liquid evaporated because my gas stove is very hot to am I in hell kind of hot so my simmer is more like a low boil-turn heat off and let the liquid completely cool, I left it over night-after sufficiently cooled, fine strain the liquid to your desired container (I use an old honey bear container...don’t judge! It was given to me)-save the nuts to do another batch or two-the liquid will have a little sediment but that’s no biggie as long as you strained it wellA medium pot will give me about 4-6 hair washes using about half a honey bears worth.Oh yeah, don’t get it in the eyes. It will sting, a lot, and you will want to poke your eye out for about three hours.AND AND AND there was no plastic in the packaging! Huzzah!

As someone trying to use more natural and eco-friendly products, I decided to give soap nuts a try for laundry and personal care. It took some trial and error to figure out an effective process, but I'm now very pleased with how the soap nuts perform.Pros:- Completely plastic-free and chemical-free. Better for the environment.- Liquid soap made from boiled nuts works great as laundry detergent. Gets clothes clean without scent.- Gentle enough to use as a body wash and shampoo. Doesn't dry out skin and hair.- A little goes a long way. The nuts can be reused to make multiple batches.- Very affordable compared to specialty natural products.Cons:- Boiling process is time-consuming. Requires monitoring water levels.- Liquid can sting if gets in eyes. Need to be careful washing hair.- Doesn't produce suds or lather. Takes adjustment if used to bubbly detergents.- May need to occasionally boost cleaning power for very dirty laundry.Overall, soap nuts have been a fantastic eco-friendly alternative to mainstream detergents and toiletries. With some trial and error in the prep process, they work extremely well for gentle but effective cleaning. I'm glad I gave them a second chance after my first fail.
