how hard is this stuff supposed to be? It is solid and does not come off on buffing wheel for drill

Buffing compounds are a wax base with a fine cutting abrasive mixed in. You only want a tiny bit on the wheel at a time. You won't hardly be able to tell that it is coming off if you do it right. Medium pressure and only hold the compound on the wheel for a couple of seconds. Work down in grits, starting with a courser grit first and followed by a finer grit.

Is this product supposed to be rock hard? Just received and they are very hard. Need them to polish titanium, stainless steel and silver rings.

For hand polishing I bought an all steel can of almonds at Walmart. Broke up some of the bar and added some mineral oil to the can. Heated on a stove until it melted. You may have to add a bit more oil. It stays soft and the almond lid keeps it from getting hard. If it does get hard just add a little mineral oil and stir until it gets soft again.

Can you be used to make semi chrome finish on aluminum that was painted over?

With 6 different grits in package with a bench buffer and good buffer wheels don’t see why not. FYI I bought my inexpensive buffer from Harbor Freight and assortment of 3 or 4 buffer wheels from Amazon. Good luck with your project!!!

do you change wheels when you change grit? or do you just put he latest grit on top of the old grit?

I would use a separate wheel for each grit because you wouldn't want to use a fine grit over an aggressive grit as that would defeat the purpose of the fine grit reaching a shiny polish. Multiple polishing wheels are available from Amazon to use on a Dremel type tool.

Great Jewelers rouge and buffing compound at a great price.

If you're looking for a quality product at a reasonable price that will polish your jewelry and belonging beautifully then this is the product for you. After I received the product I tried it out on some jewelry that I wear everyday and I was more than satisfied with the result with very little effort and using a Dremel with a felt buffing wheel the jewelry I polished came out just as nice as if I would have taken them to a jeweler.

The product is as expected and does the required job.

The packaging needs to be be more protective since two of the blocks were broken in two. They will still be usable. However, they might have been shattered which would make them less convenient to use. This is a fragile item and needs more robust packaging.
