Marine Band Harmonica, Key of Bb

It has been years since I played a Marine Band. I’ve been on plastic combs - honers, Seydel, and others. I wanted to give it a try again. Great old sound I remember from my learning years trying to imitate Sonny Terry. I am enjoying he return to wood.

For the money, you can not beat this durable well constucted and reliable blues harmonica (I don't suppose you are limited to blues, but it's what I use them for). I still have a couple of these from the 1970's which remain playable. I wanted to freshen and enlarge my collection so I bought this Bb plus the 5 pack with the case. These are great harps, easy to play and bend notes, in tune and airtight. I have not one negative thing to say about them.

I started with special 20s, then tried lee oskar, however this was the best harp I’ve ever had!

My guy started learning harmonica last year. Now, he's collecting more, and this was the key he wanted for blues especially. This is the one he carries with daily. This is the one he sighs at happily for its clarity of sound. He doesn't like the case at all, though: without its instruction manual, it lets the harp rattle around. I got him a leather case he prefers.

Heb onlangs deze mondharmonica marineband van hohener gekocht ,jammer maar er is nooit blijven hangen ,en het is onmogelijk om het open te krijgen ,kan niet kuisen of plaatje vervangen ,oorzaak 4 mini schroeven op de hoeken piep klein heb altijd hohener een tiental gehad is altijd een grote schroef ,is niet normaal is na 2 maanden voor de vuilnis ,dat is dan ook de laatste die ik met amazone gekocht heb !

This is the working man's harp - the one just about everyone you know who plays harmonica plays. It's the harp of choice for Adam Gussow and that's good enough for me. For those wondering what the difference is between this and the Marine Band Deluxe, I'd say it's about comfort. I have a Deluxe in the key of C, it was the first harp I bought. The Deluxe feels a little smoother on the lips, with its triple lacquer, and the edges of the comb are rounded a little. But there's something super authentic about the 1896 that I think I'm gonna fall in love with. In my humble (beginner's) opinion, the difference in response is barely noticeable - both are super airtight. Any difference there is could be to do with the different keys, as lower keys (I think) have a slightly more sluggish response time. All in all, this is a great, great harp and while the Deluxe will give you those added improvements for £10 - £15 extra, you're going to get the real deal with the 1896. I'm sure I'll try some of the other models in the series on down the line - the Crossover in particular appeals with its bamboo comb - but I've a feeling this one is going to be my staple. Keep harpin'!
