A perfect solution at an affordable price.
If you bought one of those high-end bikes from your local bike shop and it didn't come with a kickstand installed, I've got some good news. There's an affordable solution available. I bought this particular Greenfield kickstand to fit the new Fuji bike that I bought for my wife. For all of the high quality hardware Fuji put on this bike, you'd think that they could have installed a $7.00 kickstand, or at least installed a mounting plate for a kickstand. They didn't, so I did a lot of research to find out who made a kickstand that would fit a Fuji (Sunfire model) bike. The only advise I found from the "experts" on all of the cycling web sites was to lay the bike down on its side or lean it up against a tree or something. Hmmmm. Lay it down or lean it up against something. That's a perfect solution for anyone who just spent $500 (or more) on a new bike. Now, why didn't I think of that solution. Neither of those two options made any sense to me or to anyone else I talked with. Then I discovered the Greenfield line of kickstands and saw this model KS2SB 285mm black kickstand with a retro mount kit pictured on the Internet. This was a bottom-mounted kickstand that was designed to fit bikes (like my Fuji) that didn't have an existing mounting plate for installing a kickstand. So I decided to take a chance and buy one. None of my local bike shops had that kickstand model in stock and it would take a week for them to get one. Then I checked Amazon.com and saw that Niagara Cycle Works had it in stock for $7.49 + shipping, so I ordered it along with the rubber foot for an additional 89 cents. The order was placed on 4/04 and I received the kickstand and foot the next day. It took all of maybe five minutes and a metric Allen wrench to install the kickstand on the Fuji. Quick and painless installation. It fits and functions perfectly. Not only does the kickstand work great, the black color blends in perfectly with the dark color of the bike. My Fuji Sunfire has a 17" frame and the standard 285mm kickstand looks to be the perfect length for this bike frame, although you can shorten the kickstand leg by cutting some it off if necessary. No problems with the kickstand or with the Niagara Cycle Works order.

Does its job perfectly
First off, let it be known that kick stands serve a single purpose! to hold your bike up, so why is this sooo amazing? Well, first off, its got an older mounting system that will fit almost every bike, including the new ones with special mounting systems. It holds in place well enough, it doesn't weigh 3000 tons, and its plenty long for your average 26 inch mountain bike. If you want it shorter, you can always man up and break out the hacksaw, If you want it longer, place something between the bottom plate and the frame to space it out. It's not going to be perfect unless you make it that way, or you're just lucky. you might even go so far as to put a little rubber shoe on it, though that makes it look terrible! Please note that this will scratch the crap out of your frame down there, but seeing as its out of sight, and will be covered anyway, this is not a problem for me Overall, strong and easy. Great buy for the price

Great Kickstand For the Money
I had no idea whether this would work on my 30" Raleigh. Reviews were positive so for $16 I gave it a shot. Installation was easy once I figured out the orientation. There are minimal instructions. You need a good-sized Allen wrench to install it. It works great at the given length. If you have a shorter bike or a kid's bike you'll need more tools to cut the stand off so it will work properly. Also, I bought a Greenfield Rubber Foot so the stand will not sink into soft ground. It fits and works great, and was simple to install. The kickstand is sturdy and well-designed. It fit the plate on the bottom of my bike. There's only one bolt to use. If you have no tools or can't borrow some you might want to consider getting your kickstand at a bike shop and having it installed there.

Great design
Easy to install. Had to cut down a bit to get my bike to lean over. There are lines on the leg to guide your cut, and make the cut parallel to the ground. Works great! I also bought the little rubber foot that goes on the end so that it wont scratch my floor when my bike is indoors. It just slips on.

Solid, Stylish, No Noticeable Weight/Drag
Last summer I bought Giordano Rapido Single Speed Road Bike (56cm) Cycling, Bike, Bicycle, Cycle, Bicycling and it was noted as a great bike with some bad parts. The kickstand was one of the bad parts. A few months later bought my son GMC Denali Pro Road Bike, 700c, 22.5 inch frame which came with a great, durable and out of the way kickstand - the Greenfield. My OEM kickstand would get in the way of my pedaling/heel - poor quality, poor design/alignment. This Greenfield kickstand was a quick install, perfect height as is and tucks away with nice little spring-fed pull and it's tight and out of the way. I also bought and added the KICKSTAND GREENFIELD RUBBER FOOT and my problems are solved.

Great stand, but missing part
Kickstand worjs great, but when putting on and following directions, it mentions a rubber boot to remove, cut the stand to size and re-install. There was never any rubber boot and package was sealed.

An excellent kickstand
Why don't all bike manufacturers install a good kickstand? Our daughter's mid priced bike came without one, so after doing some research ordered this one. The install couldn't have been easier, and cutting off the length was simple with a hack saw and file. An easy 10 minute job, and my daughter is VERY happy she doesn't have to find something to lean her bike against or lay it on the ground. A kickstand seems to me to be a no brainer, but???????????

Not a good fit for Trek Bike
The retro kickstand seemed like a good fit where space and cables provided limited space. As stated in a previous review, some minor grinding adjustments were required to avoid contact with cables. Installed pretty easy after that. The problem that makes the product unusable is the fact the clamping force does not keep the stand from moving. Each time i used the kickstand the clamp location moved, until it came to rest on a cable.
