Yes, itโs worth it
Not only does it create a strong joint, which a biscuit does not do but it creates perfect alignment. Itโs definitely pricey but after using it I find it hard to believe Iโve lived most of my life without it. Itโs made well, easy to use and makes joining boards a whole lot faster. Like anything else I wish it cost less but I can also say I honestly feel like it is worth the money.

You will love the Festool Domino Joiner
I always thought Festool tools were too expensive but I needed a good way to break down sheets of plywood without having to lug 4'x8' sheets down my basement steps to my shop and my table saw. I wanted a track saw and started to read everything I could find to determine which brand to buy. It came down to a Mikita or a Festool track saw and everything I read said Festool is best. I bought one and boy am I glad. It is well made and a pleasure to use. That started me to look at other Festool products and when I saw a few videos about the Domino Joiner I just had to have one. It is easy to use, more accurate than the best biscuit joiner and it makes a true mortise in each workpiece for insertion of a floating tenon (domino). The joints are strong and true. The manual that comes with the joiner is ok but if you go to [...] you can download a supplemental manual for the domino joiner that is very good. It has colored illustrations and pictures and gives some excellent examples of what you can do with the joiner. I am making kitchen cabinets for my son and daughter in-law and the domino and the Festool track saw are making my work much easier and faster. These tools have made a believer out of me. Like they say, you get what you pay for.

The reviews are accurate..worth the money
As the Brits might say, a bit โfiddlyโ until one gets fluent in the set up. At that point, it becomes WOW! Unless youโre doing through mortises for show, this is WAY easier than even using a dedicated mortise machine. (I have one and Iโve used it a LOT.). Far more precise than biscuits. Iโve never been a dowel guy, so I canโt comment there. FAR more elegant than a pocket hole jig and yet still easier to use. Pricey for sure, AND you probably want the Woodpecker Mortise Match accessory tool. As a hobbyist thatโs not afraid to invest in the best tools, this is REALLY cool. Itโs a joy to use and youโll be blown away at how quickly a cabinet comes together.

Dangerously useful, worth the investment
This is one incredibly useful, excellent piece of equipment. It does something that no other tool maker has attempted, and Festool aced it. There are many ways to make two pieces of wood stay together, and with $50 worth of hand tools and incredibly perfect technique, you can definitely do without this tool. I bought it because it allows me to be highly accurate, extremely fast, and almost entirely eliminated ruining workpieces and having to spend extra money on more material to start over with parts of projects. I can assemble a project in 1-2 hours with the Domino that would have required I spend 20-30 hours with a mixture of hand tools and power tools to accomplish. The other thing this saves me is a huge amount of garage space. No need for me to own a bunch of tenon cutting jigs/sleds or a stand mortiser and a plunge router setup just for cutting mortises. I like that a lot. Pros: Saves time Super accurate Avoids ruining workpieces Helps me save shop space on all of the tools I'd need to use to reproduce the functionality this has Cons: Cost enough to cause marital heartburn

Awesome tool but appears to have already been used
Updating to 5 stars Iโm still not happy about the condition of the tool when I received it but after using it a few times I feel like it deserves a 5 star review. Itโs expensive but the build quality, design and functionality of this tool is AMAZING. This has become my new favorite tool and if you can afford one I would highly recommend buying one. You really have to use it to fully appreciate what it is. I have absolutely no regrets about buying it and after using it, I couldnโt imagine not having it. Also, the dust collection on this thing is far better than any other tool I own. I always wear a respirator when working in the shop but donโt feel the need to when using this tool. There is literally no sawdust escaping this thing. Original Review: This is one awesome tool but mine looks like it was already used. The body of the tool and handle on the fence are a little scuffed up. Itโs true that this slight cosmetic damage could have occurred during shipping but the cutter also had sawdust on it right out of the box. I would recommend buying locally if possible.

Invaluable tool, SO fast, SO easy - great, strong joints
I think once you get far enough into the Festool world, it's easier to realize that the upfront cost for some of these things don't make sense, but that the overall value you get from the system means you don't really have to care about that too much. Case in point is the purchase of a domino - I think many people are taken aback by the price for the seemingly limited functionality (I know I was). But it's just so easy, so useful, and SO fast, that the tool can pay for itself in a couple of days of work. Occasionally, I have to fix furniture, and I can't tell you how many times a simple repair went from a 2 hour project down to 20 minutes. I really wish they figured out a way to have one machine do all the domino sizes supported by the regular domino and the domino XL. That would certainly add even more value. As it is, I decided to do the smaller Domino, and it has been a good choice. The couple of times I wished for XL, I could still pull off what I needed to do with multiple Dominos, whereas I've done a ton of projects that there is no way I could have used the XL. I fear one day I will need to own both, but if you are a general purpose user (i.e. you're not making doors, beds, and other large items on a daily basis), the smaller guy is probably the right choice.

Very Impressive
I had serious doubts about this purchase. I'd never owned a Festool tool before and this thing isn't exactly inexpensive. That and the lime green plastic looks kind of cheap. But a friend talked me into it---he highly recommended it. My initial doubts were dead wrong. Everything about this things screams German Engineering. German Precision and it's even assembled in Germany. It's built like a tank. Unfortunately, German engineering is going to cost you. These tools don't come cheap. But in this case I think you're going to get what you pay for. And thinking of cases. This thing comes with the best case I've ever seen with a tool---and I own a lot of tools! WOW! They hit a home run with this one. I recommend you also bite the bullet and purchase the Domino Cutter and Tenon Assortment kit. You're going to need it anyway and it comes with a set of cutters that more than cover the value. It also comes with one of those GREAT Festool cases. The case will interlock with the cutter case too. Okay, emotions aside---if you like high quality, well built, reliable, long lasting and accurate tools, look no further.

Amazing
My first Festool piece and I must say that now I understand what is that hype all about. The quality is outstanding, the engineering is marvellous. Dust collection is perfect even with the 3rd party DC unit and hose. The most important part, the unit does its job perfectly.
