Backyard Safari Cargo Vest Kids Outdoor Activity

This vest was the top gift among all those I gave my nieces and nephew last Christmas. My brother states that my nephew fell madly in love with it and did not want to remove it at dinner time; he had to be coaxed to take it off and was so preoccupied with it that he hardly noticed his other new toys. This was one of the least expensive gifts, and yet there was something about it that my 4-year-old nephew identified with. I also got him the matching binoculars. My brother told me, "You did better than we did this year." There is no higher praise, and I was delighted that the vest was such a hit. They augmented the impact of the gift later by buying him a patch to sew on it from one of their trips, and a few months afterward for his birthday, they bought him the matching bug vacuum, which is also a hit. I think this product appeals to the explorer in little boys and gives them an outlet for their imagination, enabling them to see themselves as adventurers. I would highly recommend this for any little boy, especially if he likes to watch the nature channels, is thinking of studying science/nature, or dreams of being an explorer. There is a wealth of accessories you can buy to go with it, and the vest itself is so adaptable to any kind of nature hunt. There is room in the various pockets for different types of specimens (one pocket is made of mesh to allow bugs or animals to breathe), tools, and of course little bags of snacks to keep your adventurer from going hungry in the outback.

LOVE IT! We purchased these for my daughter's Kindergarten class Nature Hike field trip. The kids absolutely LOVED them! This is a well-made vest, with plenty of pockets for the kids to store all of their finds. They were great for the field trip, as they could hold their own things in their vest instead of having the parents carry them. The vest came with a cool map and tips for the kids to explore the area, such as: surveying the park- is there water? Pick a piece of grass, examine it and identify what type of grass it is later, etc. We liked the exploration tips, which were appropriate for both urban city parks (which is what most of our students have access to) and for rural or natural parks. The kids went home excited about being real scientists. I would definitely buy this again.

I got two of these for my 2 boys when we went camping. They loved it. It was rather loose on both the 5 and 4 year old, but they are skinny kids. The pockets are roomy - big enough to hold a kid sized binocular or monocular. And the little rings were sturdy (the rings did just fine with a rather sturdy flashlight). They absolutely loved the little book that came with it, and spent the whole trip looking for the critters and stones in the book. One of my kids dropped the book on a trail near our campsite, and it rained - but nothing happened to the book (it is sort of laminated/glossy paper that is water resistant). It was just a light rain, but it was out all night, and he was delighted that the book looked just fine inspite out being out wet all night. Definitely recommend for 4-7 year olds. Only reason for 4 star is because I dont know how durable it is (only time will tell). For size, its almost exactly as big as a Gymboree Size 5 T-shirt. It measures approx. 17" long x 14" wide.

I'd always hoped that my son would turn out to be a bird watcher or the next Marlin Perkins and with this vest , my dreams are coming true. It has many pockets, including one especially for binoculars, which I also bought him to match, so he is sure to be able to identify those yellow bellied sap suckers and blue footed boobies from afar. Further, it's a chick magnet. The 6 and 7 year old girls admired my handsome man in uniform, complete with his safari hat and his encyclopedic knowledge of different wild cat species, along with his eidetic memory of every Spongebob episode that ever was. He shared his binoculars and magnifying glass with said chicks, and they viewed ants, bugs and also spotted a few hummingbirds. Seriously, he loves this and no matter what shirt he is wearing, this is always his second layer. It's quite adorable and I feel he loves it far more than some of the more expensive gifts he got for his birthday.

We bought this for our little explorer as a surprise for his first trip to the zoo. He loved all the little pockets and the clips.I liked that the zipper was a hard plastic instead of metal and seemed to be a bit bigger so my three year old had no trouble zipping it up himself. It was a huge hit at the zoo and we got lots of compliments! He still loves to don his safari vest and explore the wilds of our backyard. All in all I am so glad we got this for him.

This was a BIG hit with my grandson. His big sister decided this was what she wanted for her birthday gift. Only criticism is, make a lgr size available .Granddaughter is a slim 8 1/2 year old and vest was snug on her while it fit her 6 y.o. brother perfectly. Ended up going to LLBean for her vest. Lots of additional fun pieces to purchase with Safari vest , which makes it fun for the kids. The kids love the idea of collecting the badges, however they don't come with every purchase piece. This was one of my most successful purchases for grand children.

My daughter is a size 5/6 toddler, and this fits her perfectly and she loves it. She's using it as a Diego dress up prop and I expect it to last a while. Seems to be well made, and comes with a map that she thinks is the bees knees. Note that it does not come with binoculars or the little light thing as pictured (it says this in the description, but as the picture lhere makes it seem otherwise I thought I'd point it out in case it's helpful).

This is a tremendous idea for kids who follow Dino Dan on Nick Jr. I got this vest and a few of the tools as gifts for my son's 4th birthday. I gave it to him at the natural history museum so he could play paleontologist. He loved it and didn't want to take it off. There are a lot of pockets which is awesome to secure all his treasures and fossils. The reason I am unable to give this vest a 5 star rating is because the construction. Now I realize this vest wasn't made with a 4 year old in mind -- it is very loose on him. But that doesn't bother me. The material is nylon not cotton so so the structure of the garment is flimsy, but that doesn't bother me. There's an essential field guide that list all the other merchandise that he now wants me to buy, but that doesnt bother me. What does bother me is the see thru plastic pocket for the field guide. It doesn't have a snap closure which bothers my son so he's come up with his own fix for that issue. He tucked the flap into the pocket to secure the booklet. However, the nylon used to sew the plastic facing into place has started to fray and now the pocket has a huge tear down the side. I am more that a little annoyed with the shoddy craftmanship. This is a vest for children. Some degree of effort should be place in its durablity. Its a wonderful idea it that it inspires kids to play and learn. But for $19.99 I expect he should get more than a weeks worth of play time.

Me encanto, el material es bueno a mi hijo de 7 años le fasinó, tenia un pequeño detalle en la costura pero con una costura quedo como nuevo, los compartimentos son buenos y resistentes incluye un pequeño mapa y guia de explorador para jugar, se agradece . el tamaño es correcto y creo que le durará un par de años mas sin problema.

Purchased this for my son and I swear he hasn't taken it off in weeks! Because he wears it all day everyday it gets really dirty. We've washed it in the machine and hung to dry every week since we got it and it's holding up nicely. Great buy for those little explorers in your life!

Tiene buen material en la tela. Al principio hay que abrir y cerrar varias veces los cierres para evitar que se atoren con el uso. Le caben varios accesorios y la medida es para un niño, en este caso niña, de estructura estándar de entre 4-7 años aprox.

This is a gift for a young boy. I'm sure he will like it. Decent quality.
