Sometimes windows don't work the way they should, for one reason or another. Sometimes you can't count on a landlord doing anything to amend that, and you don't want to spend a lot of money doing their job for them. This is one of those items that helps do that.You'll get two of them in one package. One is enough to keep a sliding window from being opened from the outside, but there's nothing to say you can't put two on a window. As if that weren't enough, they also allow you to still easily open your windows from the inside!This really is a very simple but effective solution, which makes it unfortunate they are so hard to find. If they had a more unique name, maybe my local hardware stores would carry them. Maybe you live in Beverly Hills where they actually HAVE working locks on windows. Guess what? You can still use these! What's another $1.91 per window to make sure all your expensive crap is safe anyway!?

These are a great design for my windows. I deducted a star because I think they should have come with screws rather than nails to mount them. So I bought my own small brass screws and re-drilled the little holes a bit bigger to install them. I am sure they are more secure that way and will last longer as a result. I can now leave some windows open for my kitties to enjoy while I am at work without worrying about intruders.

I installed with screws. Slow somebody down a little anyway. The neighbors house was robbed and we still wanted to have our window open sometimes.

This simple design is fantastic. Before nailing in the nails, make sure you aren't nailing into the window! Also, make sure the window has enough clearance to use this product. Even though I try to remember to shut all the windows when I leave my place, having this little lock gives me some piece of mind in case I forget.
