SAMe was a recommended supplement in Dr. Daniel Amen's book, "Making a Good Brain Great". There is a section in the brain, called the Deep Limbic System (DLS) and when it is not functioning right (excessive activity in this part of the brain), these problems can occur: depression, sadness, focusing on the negative, irritability, low motivation and energy, negativity, social disconnection/isolation, low self-esteem, crying spells, feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness. I was experiencing all of these. Some days I would be fine and other days I felt like I was losing my mind. I had absolutely nothing to be depressed/sad about and the littlest things would bother me and/or make me upset. I was also very irritable. It was getting out of control and it was really affecting my life and my relationship with my boyfriend. I am not too keen on taking any type of pill, which is why I avoided going to see a doctor. I knew he/she would only prescribe me anti-depressants of some sort, which are not only expensive, but also have many negative side effects. This is when I decided to give SAMe a try - and it has changed my life like I never thought possible. It improved my mood and my motivation. I am not nearly as negative and irritable as I was before and I feel really good about my life and in general. For the women out there, I also noticed an improvement in my PMS symptoms. A few things to take note of: -Check with your doctor first before taking. I didn't, but you really should. -Start off with a lower dose. I first started with 400mg and after a few days I started getting anxiety and also a headache shortly after taking. The better dose for me is 200mg, but everyone is different. -Take a vitamin B supplement with SAMe. More specifically, B12, B6 and Folate. This helps with absorbency. -DO NOT take if you have bipolar disorder or are taking other anti-depressants. SAMe is best taken on an empty stomach. Wait 30 minutes or so before eating. I take mine in the morning, along with a vitamin B complex and it has worked out very well. Also be sure to give it time to work. I saw the most improvement after 2 weeks of daily usage. I never leave reviews on anything.. I wish I had found out about Sam-E years ago!!! I have had SAD, and moderate depression with anxiety for years! I have been on Prozac, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Provigil, Xanax, Valium.. just about everything over a 25+ year span. Those almost all worked (eventually) But I would go off of them in hopes "I didn't need them any more" just to be trapped in a big cycle, funding Big Pharma.. My father died last year and I had been on an all time low for 6 months. Hardly got out of bed, didn't want to leave the house, much less go see the Dr for more pills I didn't want to take again.. I was really bad, extreme fatigue, the smallest task was enormous and exhausting. I spent roughly 75% of my day In bed! I swear, serious depression and anxiety for not getting anything done.. I'm taking a break from cleaning out my pantries and mopping right now! I feel fantastic! I have energy, I feel upbeat, positive.. it's truelly amazing! The only reason I tried this is because of the raving reviews, I've since added vitamins, B12 and lithium orotate. If something truelly works well for us as human beings it is our responsibility to spread the word... If you are on the fence, try this! I'm so glad I did!! I take 2 200 mg a day.. ~one happy camper

Starting on the smaller dose is great for those who respond well to meds (ie - get side effects from Rx's and want to try something that's easier on the body!). You can take 2, decide if 400 per dose is really for you or not. 200 is fine for many. This is a great price and if you take one a day, the box will last 2 months. The foil packs inside are not labeled, are compact (about a 4x6 picture size), and easy to pack in your purse side-pocket or briefcase for travel. The tablets push out easily, and cleanly. Best I have found, and being a Euro mfr is a plus in my mind. They are experts with Sam-e, as it's been dosed and studied very extensively there. Minor and passing side effects may include soft stool, but the body can usually adjust to that, esp. at 200 dosing.

I have been on SAM-e in the past, several years ago, and I had some solid results then. As I shop hugely based off of cost AND reviews from other trusted consumers, I chose this brand this go-'round, and I'm feeling really great. I have severe anxiety induced by ADHD and PTSD, and I am against big pharma medications. I took the natural route, and I take several supplements daily, several times a day, including this. I started with 200 mg of Doctor's Best SAM-e, 2-3 times a day- and now I start with 200 mg. in the morning, 200 mg. in the afternoon, and then around the evening time, I take 400 mg., along with some other supplements. It takes a good 2-4 weeks to accrue in your body, but once it does, it's almost as if your brain is lifted out of a fog, and you begin to see light and happiness, instead of feeling dismal and icky. This brand of SAM-e has proven itself to be an effective part of my recovery out of the slump that is life!!! It comes in a box of 6 blister packs, and in each pack is 10 pills of 200 mg. each. I have bought this brand twice now, and I think I'll stick with Doctor's Best for a while.

Love it. And it helps tremendously with my autism, and my lyme disease. My only hang up and it's not that important. Is the last two orders that I've made have come in the old boxes instead of the new ones. I don't know if the new boxes or a temporary branding thing and they realize they weren't selling as much or what, or maybe they have old boxes left behind and they're just using them while they still can but it's all the same product with all the same ingredients so I'm not concerned
