Same size as parakeet eggs
These have helped in that they give my mama bird a couple weeks break from egg laying. My pair love to mate and they did raise their first clutch (had 5 heathy birds) but I could not find homes for 4 of them and we do not want anymore. So I replace the real eggs with these and she will sit on them for a couple weeks before she realizes they won’t hatch and then she’ll start all over again. At least she gets a little break. They look and feel so real the last time I was replacing a real egg, I couldn’t tell the difference between the new egg and the other fake ones I had already replaced! I am now ordering a second batch bc she is mating again and already has laid 8 eggs this clutch.

perfect size
the size is exactly as the real parakeet's eggs, helped with stopping the mama bird from laying more eggs.

Great “dummy” parakeet eggs
These work as intended. We inherited 2 budgies (1 boy, 1 girl) and have no desire to have more budgies, so we got these eggs. The girl cannot tell the difference when we take out her real eggs and replace them with these. You cannot stop them from mating, but you can help her get a rest from it for a while by using these eggs. The girls is less interested in mating and spends a lot of time trying to incubate the eggs. At first I felt bad for her because they will never hatch, but I think it’s more healthy for her to rest after laying eggs because it’s hard on her body to constantly lay eggs. It depletes her of calcium, etc., and I’m sure laying eggs cannot be comfortable. They will continuously mate otherwise and she will keep dropping eggs until she gets a full brood, which is about 8, so we just keep replacing them with these eggs so she doesn’t keep trying to build up the brood. She instead gets a break. We just compost the real eggs, but maybe you could put them outside for some critter to eat if that’s you have a larger property and can put them somewhere that doesn’t attract rodents to your house—haven’t looked into that. I think this is a great product.

Effective
They work fine, but so do white marbles. A broody budgie has a brain the size of a pea and will try to hatch anything, even a chicken egg.

Work just as intended
Your standard plastic dummy egg. These were technically the wrong size for my ringneck dove but they still fooled her.

These worked
After my solitary budgie laid two infertile eggs, I replaced them with these. It kept her happy tending her "clutch" for an extended time and she did not lay more eggs. At long last she found a way to dispatch with the "eggs" that were never going to hatch, which is perfectly normal behavior. I will use these again during the next "breeding season" to prevent her from repeatedly laying eggs.

Slightly larger than my parakeet's eggs
These look great except for being noticeably bigger than my parakeet's eggs.
