i have this, but lost the manual. Does anyone remember which wheel does what? 1 and 2 is written, but don't know what was what...

Station #1 is the rougher, more coarse to prep the blade for the Station #2, which finishing the sharpening of the blade.

There is a single sheet of instructions.

Does it use back and forth motion or just back knife pull motion?

I go back and forth and it works. The knife is sharpened. This is my 2nd one I bought thru out the years.

Does the handle lock open when in use, as well as lock closed

yes it does. you have to press the red circle is to release from the lock.

Bit sceptical as to whether this would really work but wow super sharp joseph knives again. Very easy to use and folds away neatly.
