My oncologist conducted blood work, which showed a normal cell profile, but the crucial test results had not come in on the day of our appointment. Despite her view that I appeared to be doing fine, I knew that I wasn't and restarted my regimen of IP6. Over the next few weeks, I began to return to normal. At my next scheduled visit (last Monday), she discovered to her horror and to my great dismay, that she had neglected to check the definitive test for APL leukemia (what is known as a PCR test for the fusion transcript, PML-RARA) from my last visit, and it was positive!
