Review: Easy enough for a novice and good enough for pros. - I’m getting started in pen and ink illustration, so don’t take this as an expert’s opinion. I tried dip pens and brushes first. For a beginner like me, they were too messy and it was frustrating to try to get the lines that I wanted. With this brush pen, I can draw lines of any thickness I want, including very thin lines. The thickness is controlled by how much pressure you use. It takes practice to consistently get the thickness you want. This brush pen uses actual bristles like a conventional brush. (Some pens labeled as brush pens have a hard tip.) The ink is supplied by a cartridge. They are available in packs of 12. If you want to save money, you can try re-filling the empty cartridges. I’ve had mixed success doing it. There are a number of on-line videos showing how to use this brush pen. Many professionals use this brush pen. Finally, it is inexpensive, so it doesn’t cost much to try it out and see if it’s right for you.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long does it take from installing a new cartridge in a new pen for the ink to get to the tip. Is there any special way to place the pen to work?**
A: It should take at least ten minutes or more for the tip to fill with ink and then use for drawing. There's no special way of placing the pen to make work, once the ink reaches the tip its ready to go.

**Q: Does this "Japanese version" use the regular refills?**
A: It uses Pentel Arts Pocket Brush Refills. You can get them here on Amazon. **Q: If I use water color after outlining with this will it mess it up?!**
A: I have just started using this brush for watercolor, and it does not mess it up!  You can draw/letter with the ink before or after using watercolors with no problem.

**Q: Does it have extra fine or fine tip?**
A: It only comes with one variating tip that changes ildepensing on how hard you press. If you hover it really lightly, it can be an extra fine tip

The brush pen is good and the ink is waterproof after it dries. Ink flow is good.
