For darker skin shades, is it better to go with translucent or yellow?

Are you "darker" or are you black honey?  If you're a woman of color like me, ANY "translucent" powder is gonna leave you ashy. Camera flashback is not funny. Not that they don't serve a purpose for us... you can use it as a great way to set your primer to get an ultra matte look, as an under eye setting powder if you have super dark circles, you can even mix it with/lightly dust it over your favorite lipstick for a matte finish. If you are a woman of color (or any woman who needs good makeup advice) don't ask Amazon. You need to get on YouTube and find a woman named Jackie Aina. She's a beauty guru with her own special brand of black girl magic. Find her, follow her, and get yourself some Sacha Buttercup finishing powder. Hi. I've never used loose powder before, I'm fair with very oily skin, which one should I get? Translucent, yellow or vixen? How shimmery is vixen?

Hi Denise, never tried 'vixen' only read about it having a shimmer on other posts. I suggest you go with the matte translucent FOR SURE. You do not need much to set finished face. I use a facial powder brush.Dip brush into less than 1/4 tsp powder that you have gently transferred into the cover of container, swirl brush in powder, tap off any excess and apply to face in buffing motion. Play around with it until you reach desired effect. Focus on t-zone & sides of nose. It's a great powder, will last a long time. Have fun.

whats the purpose of this powder?

I use it to set my concealer under my eyes. The banana is a yellow color and I use yellow concealer under my eyes. Plus I use a salmon color in addition to the yellow to cancel out/help with purple discoloration that can occur under the eyes. This kind of powder works better for setting concealer. Setting your concealer will help it not to crease. This powder also brightens up the area under the eyes to give you an awake look even if you just woke up. A good setting powder brush makes this work really good.  I use the real techniques setting powder brush that I bought on Amazon. It's the best setting powder brush for under the eyes that I've ever found! I hope my answer helps you out!
