I found the xxl very comfortable. Not tight at all but just a good fit. I wear a 38 as well with a 32 inch inseam. I tried the xl and I found those to be a little too snug to be comfy.

I would get a large, I bought an xl thinking with pants on a large would be to small, I was wrong the xl are way to big even with pants. I wear a 32x32 usually.

What size would fit 44 waist x 36 inseam?

You will be either a 3x or 4x. 4x if you like them roomy or plan to wear something thicker underneath. Hope that helps!

Love them

These were nice to work in. Non breathable rain gear would have been deadly in comparison. They are a little noisy to walk in, like snow gear. The mediums are Triple Xtra Mediums, I am 32/30 and these come up to my pecks. My gf could fit in there with me. I had to eat that cost. Size small fit nicely. They did their job, nobody got run over and feet were dry aside from sweat.

Worth Every Penny...at first.

I bought these for my husband and he LOVES them. He drives a tow truck and needed something to keep dry in the rain and snow. These are durable and allow his skin to breathe. He likes having a cargo pocket in easy reach when underneath a vehicle. He is 6'2", 40x34. I initially ordered an XL. They fit over his jeans, but it was a snug fit. With as much as he has to bend and stretch I wanted to make sure he didn't blow them out. So I sent them back and got him XXL and they are perfect. 3/5/17 - Update - I am changing my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars because after 1-1/2 months of almost daily use the seam tape started pulling off and now they are no longer completely water proof. For the price I expected these to last much longer.

Great Product For The Money

Keeps his long underwear dry when he has to crawl around in the rain. He has had them for a couple of months now and there are no tears or rips.

waterproof liner delaminated in less than a year :-(

In less than a year the waterproof layer on the inside of the pants has delaminated rendering the pants useless as waterproof shell. They also cover your clothes with the white plastic material. :-) The pants have only seen occasional use and have never been machine washed or dryed, or exposed to any chemicals or heat. I would not recommend these.
