I've found that these get a significantly better bite on a pipe. Also, the comparison has to be between similar sized tools. The 12" knipex cobra is not comparable to a 24" pipe wrench, but the 22" knipex is. **Q: Are these made in Germany?** A: All Knipex tools are manufactured in Germany. **Q: Do they work in both directions in the same orientation, or would I have to turn them over?** A: They need to be turned over to get the benefit of the tool design.
