3M Headliner & Fabric Adhesive, 18.1 oz.,

While redoing the headliner on my pickup truck, we ended up buying this fabric adhesive knowing full well it was probably going to be a one-time-use type of purchase. Because of that, the price initially felt a little higher than I wanted to spend for a single project. But now that several months have passed since using it, I can honestly say the effectiveness and durability of this product have absolutely justified the cost. First off, this stuff is strong. And I mean strong both in adhesion and in smell. The odor is very intense during application, so definitely make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated area before using it. Open doors, use fans, whatever you need to do, because this is not something you want to breathe in heavily while working. That being said, the actual application process was smoother than I expected. Once we sprayed it onto the fabric and attached the material to the truck headliner, it bonded really well. Months later, everything is still holding strong, and the durability has honestly impressed me quite a bit. One thing I learned during this whole process is that when you tackle a project like replacing a vehicle headliner for the first time, you suddenly realize there are all these specialty products out there that exist specifically to help with certain steps of the job. Since I had never done this before, I was definitely skeptical when people kept telling me I needed a dedicated fabric adhesive for it. I had honestly never even heard of products like this before starting the project. But looking back now, I completely understand why it was necessary. The end result looks fantastic. My truck interior looks significantly better with the new fabric installed, and everything about the finished project just feels cleaner and more professional overall. So while the upfront cost felt a little steep for something I may only use once, the actual results absolutely delivered for me.

We used this adhesive to restore our headliner in a 2003 mini cooper. It worked great. It can be thick if not applied in warmer weather. It has a nozzle that spays at perfect angle to not over spray fabric or liner frame. Do not spray to thick or it will may go through the fabric a show on the outside. It is sticky and needs to dry completely before handling. The longer the drying time the better adhesion. It did exactly what it was supposed to do.

3M, once upon a time, was a trusted company with consistently quality products. I’ll pose a question. What would you think this adhesive was intended for? When I first saw the image I had no doubt that it was made for headliners, as in the saggy type. I’m out and about the other day with the windows down to enjoy the exceptional weather. My 2004, low mileage Mercedes-Benz E-500 was instantly transformed into the trashiest ride on the road. The back passenger side came down and, well, what can I say? I’m not coming up with harsh enough adjectives to describe the product, however, the seller is a different story. Today it was revealed to me that there is most certainly a special place for such people. They will be tasked for an eternity to mend and repair a never ending pile of broken products with the third rate, falsely marketed, misleading worthless crud that they have been peddling to suckers like me. The gentleman with the pointy tail will make sure there is no coffee break until every broken piece is made good again. Makes me feel a little better thinking about it, even though it’s not true. On the back side of the can, low and behold, the truth is printed in type measuring about 1/16” and it plainly spells out (with use of a magnifying glass-the letters are squeezed tightly together) It says not for old materials, only use on new materials. May not hold vertical or overhead applications. Only for new materials? Seems that should be mentioned on the front of the can along with “Headliner Adhesive”. Or they could have just called this junk “Pick Up Something Else For Headliner Adhesive”. I gave five stars cause of where they will end up in the end. ;0)

Great product, easy to use for upholstery DIY headliner projects, large can, consistency & good stickiness keeps upholstery material attached to board or foam etc. Recommend product for upholstery work.

Wife runs the front desk with me at our small auto shop, and i bought this to fix a sagging headliner in a customers minivan without sending it out. Shook the can, sprayed both the roof and fabric, waited a bit, then pressed it up with a clean roller. It grabbed fast and didnt droop overnight. Next morning the customer leaned in, hit a speed bump leaving the lot, and nothing moved. That made me pretty glad. I’ve also used it on a loose carpet piece near the drivers feet and it stayed put through a week of muddy boots.

(2006 Accord 4dr, no sunroof) Pretty easy to work with, after application to both surfaces things just attach. I could lift and reposition up to about a minute or 90 sec after spraying, then it gets difficult to adjust. The spray truly comes out like webbing. Cool. Very little odor which was nice too. Minor gripe, after the first section (around 1/4 of the headliner) when a single spray covered say 4 inches each pass, the spray diminished to like 2 inches each pass. Just meant more work to get the glue down. Finished with 1/4 left in the can.

Actually grabbed this for my gym break room to fix a sagging fabric panel above the fridge that kept brushing my staff’s heads 😅. I sprayed the 3M adhesive on the metal frame and the fabric, let it tack up a bit, then pressed hard for a minute. It has not moved at all through steam from meal prep, sweaty air, and people slamming the fridge door. That one panel staying put made me real glad I bought this. Now I’m eyeing the loose carpet on the office stairs because this stuff clearly works weel on fabric to metal contact. 💪

Had some sagging headliner where the previous owner had installed a dashcam. I put this on a few months back and it's been holding quite well through the heat and the cold. I used this on quite a small patch of headliner, and as such, I'm not sure how this would work for larger applications.

Used it for headliner works well. Dont get it on your skin, I didn’t, but I imagine it wouldn’t be fun.
