If you are considering a collet chuck & collets the only reason I can think of is to acheive better accuracy over a 3 jaw chuck or at least that is the reason I went to collets for my Drill Mill. I wasn't disappointed because the ER32 collets, even if they require more time for set up, are far more accurate than my drill chuck.Unfortunately , that was not the case with this ER40 12 collet set. I checked out three collets in this set this set, runout was more using these collets than my 3 jaw lathe chuck. Fortunately, I purchased these from Amazon and returned them promptly. ER40 Collets I have purchased singly have been considerably more costly, but accurate. Now once bitten I am leary of sets.

The accuracy of these collets is better than most home mini-lathe users care about -- I have a Seig C3 7x14 lathe and I can relatively easily machine parts to +/- 0.001in (and often better) using these collets to hold the work. The parts are true with no significant run-out...Which is particularly useful for clock work or model making projects.I'm not sure what the other comments are about regarding the yellow cases, since mine came individually packaged in those yellow plastic cases, and then cellophane bundled in a padded cardboard shipping box.Only time will tell how well they hold up but for home shop use I'm sure they'll be fine. And for the price, these collets are a fantastic deal...I don't regret the purchase one bit.

I have a 1325 cnc from China and this fit perfectly. Mine is water cooled spindle and an upgrade from the smaller spindle , I ordered the wrong ones to start not realizing there were different size collets. Thanks it’s a great fit and overall great quality

The collets are great for changing cutters without having to remove the tapered shank. The holder keeps the cutter close to the spindle, not like the longer distance with a three jaw chuck.Having a metric set, as well as fractional inch set makes it easy to use "special" cutters.

Several of the collets arrived as the wrong size. Some were too loose to fit in the collet chuck and wouldn't clamp down, some were too tight and wouldn't pop out.
